RESUMEN
El presente trabajo es una investigación diagnóstica descriptiva que estudia las actividades realizadas por los estudiantes de II y IV ciclos programados como auxiliares de cuarta mano en la clínica de odontopediatría de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de El Salvador y su incidencia en el desenvolvimiento psicológico del paciente 1 infantil durante la consulta odontológica. El desarrollo de dicho tema comprende cuatro capítulos. El primer capítulo constituido por la determinación de los elementos del diagnóstico en donde se establece, el porqué y el para qué del estudio, al mismo tiempo que se plasman los objetivos específicos y el objetivo general que se pretende alcanzar con la investigación, también se incluyen los alcances y las limitaciones encontradas durante el período en que se desarrolló el trabajo. Por otra parte, se mencionan las unidades de análisis, el objeto de transformación, las variables e indicadores explorados y la definición real de términos básicos utilizados en la investigación. . El segundo capítulo comprende el marco teórico del problema, donde se desarrollan los antecedentes, en los que se hace una breve reseña histórica sobre la aparición de la odontología a cuatro manos, relacionada con la atención del paciente infantil, a partir de 1943 hasta 1998, luego se expone la fundamentación teórica de la investigación apartado en el cual se plantea sobre el desarrollo psicológico del niño, los tipos psicológicos de niños, su abordaje en el consultorio dental y el papel que desempefia el auxiliar de cuarta mano según diversos autores especialistas en el tema, en cuanto al manejo del paciente infantil que efectúan junto con el operador, así como las actividades técnicas y conocimientos que el auxiliar de cuarta mano emplea durante la consulta odontológica contrastado con las actividades realizadas por los estudiantes programados como auxiliares de cuarta mano en la clínica de odontopediatría. Posteriormente en el tercer capítulo se plantea la metodología de la investigación, donde se define el tipo de investigación que se realizó, luego se plantea la población que se tomó en cuenta para el estudio, así como las técnicas e instrumentos utilizados para obtener la información. Después se muestra la elaboración y descripción, los procedimientos para la recolección de los datos, se prosigue luego con el análisis para la interpretación de los mismos y el procedimiento para la tabulación de estos. Además, la revisión y preparación de los datos, la descripción de las hojas tabulares y el vaciado de la información. En el cuarto capítulo se especifican los resultados e interpretaciones de los cuadros estadísticos, que fueron elaborados en base a los datos obtenidos a través de la aplicación de los instrumentos a los sujetos que conformaron la población. Además, se presenta el análisis cualitativo de los resultados obtenidos de la investigación, conclusiones generales y específicas y recomendaciones a las cuales se llegaron.
The present work is a descriptive diagnostic investigation that studies the activities carried out by the students of II and IV cycles programmed as fourth-hand assistants in the pediatric dentistry clinic of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of El Salvador and their impact on psychological development of child patient 1 during dental consultation. The development of this theme comprises four chapters. The first chapter constituted by the determination of the elements of the diagnosis where it is established, the why and why of the study, at the same time that the specific objectives and the general objective that the research is intended to be achieved are reflected, are also included the scope and limitations found during the period in which the work was developed. On the other hand, the units of analysis, the object of transformation, the variables and indicators explored and the real definition of basic terms used in the research are mentioned. The second chapter includes the theoretical framework of the problem, where the antecedents are developed, in which a brief historical review is made about the appearance of four-hand dentistry, related to the care of the child patient, from 1943 to 1998, Then the theoretical foundation of the research is presented, a section in which the psychological development of the child, the psychological types of children, their approach in the dental office and the role played by the fourth-hand assistant according to various authors specializing in the subject, regarding the management of the child patient that they carry out together with the operator, as well as the technical activities and knowledge that the fourth-hand assistant uses during the dental consultation contrasted with the activities carried out by the students programmed as fourth-hand assistants in the pediatric dentistry clinic. Later, in the third chapter, the research methodology is presented, where the type of research that was carried out is defined, then the population that was taken into account for the study is presented, as well as the techniques and instruments used to obtain the information. After the elaboration and description, the procedures for data collection are shown, then the analysis for the interpretation of the same and the procedure for the tabulation of these is continued. In addition, the review and preparation of the data, the description of the tabular sheets and the emptying of the information. In the fourth chapter, the results and interpretations of the statistical tables are specified, which were prepared based on the data obtained through the application of the instruments to the subjects that made up the population. In addition, the qualitative analysis of the results obtained from the research, general and specific conclusions and recommendations that were reached are presented.
