RESUMEN

Among the types of lung cancer, lung adenocarcinoma accounts for the majority, and its overall survival rate is poor. B-cell translocation gene 2 (BTG2) is a member of the antiproliferative gene family, belonging to the BTG/TOB family. Many studies have shown that BTG2 was abnormally expressed in many types of tumors, but its regulatory role in the radiosensitivity of lung adenocarcinoma remained unclear. In this study, we explored the expression level of BTG2 in patients with lung adenocarcinoma and its correlation with clinical prognosis through online database and tissue samples of lung adenocarcinoma patient. The results indicated that the expression level of BTG2 decreased significantly in lung adenocarcinoma patient with radiation resistance. Bioinformatics analysis confirmed that BTG2 could respond to radiotherapy in lung adenocarcinoma cell lines, and its low expression in lung adenocarcinoma patients was associated with poor prognosis (P < 0.05). The lentivirus overexpressing BTG2 (OE-BTG2) was transfected into human lung adenocarcinoma cell lines to increase the expression level of BTG2 including A549 and H1299. And the effect of BTG2 overexpression on the radiosensitivity of lung adenocarcinoma cell lines was detected by clone formation assay. Clone formation experiment confirmed that overexpression of BTG2 could significantly enhance the radiosensitivity of A549 and H1299 cell lines (P < 0.05). The expression levels of BTG2 and apoptosis related protein-Bax were detected by Western blotting (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). The effect of BTG2 on radiation sensitivity of lung adenocarcinoma was further detected via nude mouse in vivo. WB experiment confirmed that BTG2 upregulation could significantly increase the apoptosis level of A549 and H1299 cells after radiation. Moreover, BTG2 overexpression can markedly enhance the radiosensitivity of lung adenocarcinoma (P < 0.05) and increase the protein level of Bax after radiation in vivo. In conclusion, BTG2 had low expression in lung adenocarcinoma patients and its low expression level was closely related to the poor clinical prognosis. Overexpression of BTG2 can increase the radiosensitivity of lung adenocarcinoma cell lines and promote the process of apoptosis after radiation, indicating a new target for overcoming the radiation resistance of lung adenocarcinoma.

RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate clinical manifestations and dermoscopic characteristics of lichen planus-like keratosis (LPLK) .Methods:Clinical data were collected from 21 patients with LPLK who visited Shanghai Skin Disease Hospital and underwent both dermoscopic and histopathological examinations from January 2017 to September 2019, and clinical and dermoscopic features were retrospectively analyzed. Results:These patients were aged 64.69 ± 13.29 years, and the ratio of males to females was 1∶2. Skin lesions were located on the face of 18 cases and legs of 3 cases, and were red/violaceous in color in 7 cases, reddish-brown in 5, brown/gray in 8, and brown/reddish in 1. There were 3 types of skin lesions, including plaque-like type in 10 cases, flat pigmented patch type in 6, and flat erythema-like type in 5. As dermoscopy showed, 12 cases were non-pigmented LPLK, and 9 were pigmented LPLK. Pigment granules were found in 13 lesions, and there was no significant difference in the prevalence of pigment granules between pigmented and non-pigmented LPLK ( P=0.07) ; pigment granules were often diffusely distributed (9/13) , and the diffuse distribution pattern was common paticularly in pigmented LPLK (8/9) ; locally distributed pigment granules were found in 4 cases of non-pigmented LPLK. Coarse pigment granules were seen in 10 cases (10/13) , including 8 of pigmented LPLK and 2 of non-pigmented LPLK, and the prevalence rate of coarse pigment granules significantly differed between the pigmented LPLK and non-pigmented LPLK groups ( P=0.002) . Moreover, special distribution patterns of pigment granules included the annular granular pattern (8/13) and peppered pattern (7/13) , and no significant difference was observed in the prevalence of the 2 special distribution patterns between the pigmented LPLK and non-pigmented LPLK groups (both P > 0.05) . Scales were seen in 13 cases (13/21) , and vascular structures in 7 (7/21) , and there was no significant difference in the prevalence of the 2 structures between the pigmented and non-pigmented LPLK groups ( P=0.67, 0.16, respectively) . Conclusions:LPLK mostly occurs on the face, and manifests as solitary red, reddish-brown or brownish-gray plaques or patches, whose surfaces may be covered with scales. The characteristic dermoscopic feature of LPLK is the presence of pigment granules, which are coarse, often diffusely distributed, and commonly observed in pigmented LPLK.

RESUMEN

At the end of 2019, a new form of pneumonia disease known as the corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rapidly spread throughout most provinces of China, and the total global number of COVID-19 cases has surpassed 500 000 by Mar. 27, 2020 (WHO, 2020). On Jan. 30, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a global health emergency (WHO, 2020). COVID-19 causes most damage to the respiratory system, leading to pneumonia or breathing difficulties. The confirmed case fatality risk (cCFR) was estimated to be 5% to 8% (Jung et al., 2020). Besides physical pain, COVID-19 also induces psychological distress, with depression, anxiety, and stress affecting the general population, quarantined population, medical staff, and patients at different levels (Kang et al., 2020; Xiang et al., 2020). Previous research on patients in isolation wards highlighted the risk of depressed mood, fear, loneliness, frustration, excessive worries, and insomnia (Abad et al., 2010).

RESUMEN

Public health crises, such as the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) since Dec. 2019, are widely acknowledged as severe traumatic events that impose threats not only because of physical concerns but also because of the psychological distress of infected patients. We designed an internet-based integrated intervention and evaluated its efficacy on depression and anxiety symptoms in patients infected by SARS-CoV-2.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) of prematurity is very important disease to study because it causes many cases of perinatal morbidity and its incidence is now increasing. Nowadays indomethacin is the drug of choice for PDA closure, but its use has been limited due to its side effects. Therefore, we compared the effect and side effects of indomethacin according to the infusion method, continuous versus intermittent infusion, to find better an administration method. METHODS: Twenty-five preterm infants who were admitted to Seoul National University Children's Hospital (SNUCH) NICU from March 1995 to August 1996 with a diagnosis of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) and PDA, were enrolled. They were randomly assigned to intertmittent lV group or continuous lV group. Each group received three intermittent doses or continuous infusion over 36 hours, respectively. We analyzed the perinatal history, time of diagnosis and treatment of PDA, size of PDA, and compared the laboratory parameters, intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), periventricular echogenecity (PVE), ductal closure and perinatal morbidity before and 48 hours after indomethacin administration between the two groups. RESULTS: Fourteen infants (birth weight 1,149 +/- 373g) were intermittent lV group and eleven infants (birth weight 1,212 +/- 504g) were continuous lV group. There were no significant difference between the groups in perinatal history, pretreatment laboratory parameters, ductal closure, and perinatal morbidity. Patients with IVH of grade 2 or more increased significantly in intermittent lV group (50%) compared to continuous lV group (9%), and PVE progressed significantly in intermittent lV group (64%) compared to continuous lV group (18%). CONCLUSION: Continuous infusion of indomethacin for PDA closure in preterm infants with RDS appears to be as effective as intermittent infusion of indomethacin in closing PDA and have less side effects such as IVH and PVE progress.
