RESUMEN

For the detection and identification of abnormal nodular tissues on the body surface, a microwave sensor structure loaded with a spiral resonator is proposed in this paper, a sensor simulation model is established using HFSS software, the structural parameters are optimized, and the actual sensor is fabricated. The S21 parameters of the tissue were obtained when nodules appeared by simulation, and the characteristic relationship between the difference of S21 parameters with position was analyzed and tested experimentally. The results showed that when nodules were present in normal tissues, the curve of S21 parameter difference with position change had obvious inverted bimodal characteristics, and the extreme value of S21 parameter difference appeared when the sensor was directly above the nodules, which was easy to identify the position of nodules. It provides an objective detection tool for the identification of abnormal nodular tissues on the body surface.

RESUMEN

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the quality of life of rectal cancer patients after anterior resection and the role of 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT) in the pathogenesis of anterior resection syndrome (ARS).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Between November 2012 and October 2014, 90 rectal cancer patients who underwent Dixon procedure in the Institute of Surgery Research, Daping Hospital, Third Military Medical University, and developed ARS postoperatively were enrolled in the study. By clinic interview and telephone follow-up, they were investigated according to the 4 questionnaires, including gastrointestinal quality of life index(GIQLI), Wexner constipation and incontinence score(WCS, WIS), and 36-item short form health survey(SF-36). Associated clinical data and above parameters were compared between postoperative 0-6 months and 7-24 months. Expression of 5-HT in rectal mucosa was determined by immunohistochemistry preoperatively and postoperatively.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The GIQLI, WCS and WIS were significantly improved in 7-24 months group compared with those in 0-6 months group(all P<0.05). Furthermore, the SF-36 test result also showed significant improvement in the terms of physical function, physical role, vitality, social function, emotional role and health changes spheres in 7-24 months group(P<0.05). 5-HT expression in rectal mucosa(upper anastomosis 3402.95±1876.24, lower anastomosis 3045.35±1373.59 of ARS patients was significantly down-regulated compared with the preoperative expression(rectal margin mucosa 7176.60±3927.61)(P<0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Patients with ARS experience a significant trend toward recovery in their whole long-term quality of life. The down-regulation of 5-HT expression in rectal mucosa after surgery may be related with the pathogenesis of ARS.</p>

RESUMEN

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To explore the feasibility and safety of transanal minimal invasive or combined laparoscopy total mesorectal excision.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Clinical data of 11 cases with rectal cancer undergoing transanal total mesorectal excision(taTME) in our hospital between September 2014 and May 2015 were analyzed retrospectively.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Among 11 patients, 3 underwent pure-taTME successfully without abdominal incision and ileostomy, whose operation time was 210, 230, 215 min respectively, while other 8 patients underwent laparoscopy-assisted taTME(hybrid-taTME) with operation time ranging from 150 to 290 (median 205) min. No patient was transferred to open operation, while larger tumors of two patients were removed from hypogastric 5 cm incision. Postoperative first day VAS score was 1 to 3(2.0±0.6), the first flatus was 6 to 70(30.2±17.3) h, hospital stay was 4 to 12(7.5±2.5) d, the blood loss was (104±127) ml and the liquid food intake was (28.3±6.3) h. Postoperative complications included 1 case of subcutaneous emphysema, 1 case of anastomotic stoma bleeding, 2 cases of dysuria, which were cured by conservative therapy. One patient developed rectovaginal fistula 20 days after operation and then underwent ileostomy. No relapse of tumor or death during follow-up.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>For suitable rectal cancer patients, taTME or hybrid-taTME is feasible.</p>

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the activation of nuclear factor ?B (NF-?B) induced by lipopolysaccharides (LPS) in rat alveolar macrophages (AM) and its regulative role in tumor necrosis factor (TNF-?) expression. Methods The dynamic activity changes of NF-?B DNA induced by LPS (E.coli 026:B6) were determined with electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA). The phosphorothioate oligodeoxynucleotides (S-ODN) decoy was transfected into AM 12 hours prior to LPS stimulation. The effect of NF-?B S-ODN decoy on expression of TNF-? in AM stimulated by LPS were measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit. Results NF-?B could be activated remarkably after 0.5 hour of LPS stimulation at concentration of 100 ng/ml, reached the highest level 1 hour after LPS stimulation and gradually decreased. But the activation of NF-?B could last at least 8 hours. The dose for LPS stimulation was related to activation of NF-?B in a dose-dependent fashion, ie, the activation of NF-?B gradually strengthened with dose increase of LPS. Supershift assays proved that p50 and p65 were involved in the activation of NF-?B. NF-?B S-ODN decoy could markedly (not completely) inhibit LPS-induced TNF-? production. Conclusions NF-?B plays an important role in LPS induced inflammatory response. However, entire inhibition of the activity of NF-?B can not completely prevent TNF-? expression induced by LPS in rat AM, which implies that other nuclear factors may participate in TNF-? expression.

RESUMEN

To investigate the kinetics of activation of the activator protein-1(AP-1) and elucidate its role in TNF-? expression induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) in rat alveolar macrophages(AM), dynamic changes of the activity of AP-1 were detected with electrophoretic mobility shift assay(EMSA). The phosphorothioate oligodeoxynucleotide (S-ODN) decoy was transfected into AM prior to LPS stimulation. The level of TNF-? in culture supernatants was measured with an ELISA kit. The results showed that after LPS stimulation for 0.5 hour, remarkable activation of AP-1 could be detected and reached the highest level. The activation of AP-1 rapidly decreased at 1 hour, then increased at 3 hours again and reduced at 5 and 8 hours after LPS stimulation. The activation of AP-1 could persist at least 8 hours and showed a dose-dependent manner to LPS within 1000ng/ml. AP-1 S-ODN decoys could markedly inhibit the LPS-induced TNF-? production by rat AM, but it could not completely inhibit the production of TNF-? induced by LPS in rat AM. It is suggested that LPS could induce activation of AP-1 in rat AM; AP-1 played an important role in LPS-induced inflammatory response. It is also suggested that AP-1 involved in the regulation on LPS-induced TNF-? production by rat AM, however, entirely inhibition of the activity of AP-1 could not completely prevent TNF-? production by rat AM. It is also implied that other nuclear factors might also play an important role in the regulation on LPS-induced TNF-? expression by rat AM.
