RESUMEN

6 controlled diabetic patients with at least 2 loose anterior teeth were selected for this study. Average age was 45-60 years. Patients were asymptomatic and had good metabolic control. The results obtained revealed that preservation of bony contour, after extraction of teeth, in controlled diabetic patients with B.S.L. at or below 200 mg/dL, was tried using Osteovit-Keil bone root implant. After 6 weeks, all implants exfoliated indicating rejection of the root implant, inflammation was observed around implanted sockets. Meanwhile, all controlled sockets healed properly indicating that immediate denture can be used safely with controlled diabetic patients. Also, the results indicated that Keil bone is not indicated to be immediately implanted in the socket of diabetic patients. Further investigations are needed to find another compatible substitute which can be tolerated by the tissues to solve the problem of ridge preservation in diabetic patient
