Visual reaction time(VRT) was measured with computer and the procedure programmed by the authors. The program could control the time to meet the requirements of the experiments and time precision reached 0.1 ms. The results of 840 reactions in 14 subtests could be calculated automatically and the data could be printed and stored. Simple, selective and complex VRTs measured in 226 normal subjects were very similar to those measured with ordinary RT-apparatus by some other authors. We found that VRT slowed down in the pepole from the age of 37 years old. The visual reaction of the athletic institute students, accountants and drivers was quicker than that of other professionals. This suggests that the rate of VRT is related to occupational training. Statistic analysis shows that the reliability and validity of the test given above are good.
