RESUMEN
Introdução: E-Jaguar é uma plataforma virtual criada para promover as redes de comunicação e de interação entre pessoas e entidades que lidam com epilepsia nas Américas. A iniciativa faz parte da Estratégia e do Plano de Ação da OPAS-OMS/ILAE/ IBE. Com o E-Jaguar, deseja-se ajudar a conscientizar e a sensibilizar a população sobre a doença a partir de dois objetivos principais. O primeiro visa a ampliar o acesso público a informações sobre prevenção. Atualmente, a maioria dos casos é de epilepsia adquirida por algum fator externo no decorrer da vida. O segundo pretende contribuir para a conscientização da população sobre o que é a epilepsia, a fim de auxiliar na diminuição do preconceito e estigma que as pessoas com a doença sofrem no dia-a-dia. Introduction: E-Jaguar is a virtual platform created to promote the communication network and the interaction between people and entities that deal with epilepsy in the Americas. The initiative is part of the Strategy and Action Plan by PAHO- WHO/ILAE/IBE. With the E-Jaguar, we want to help raise awareness about the disease from two main objectives reasons. The first is to increase public access to information about prevention. Currently, most cases of epilepsy is acquired by some external factor throughout life. The second aims to contribute to public awareness about what epilepsy is and to assist in the reduction of prejudice and stigma that people with the disease suffer from on a daily basis.
