RESUMEN
O envelhecimento, num país como o Brasil, mostra grande complexidade, sendo considerado um problema de ordem social. A procura por instituições de longa permanência para idosos (ILPI), diante da perspectiva demográfica e social, está aumentando e representando uma nova alternativa de moradia para o idoso. Este estudo de abordagem qualitativa teve como objetivo compreender o discurso da institucionalização do idoso e a existência de práticas que favorecem o vínculo com o lugar e a rotina de cuidados neste ambiente, propondo efetuar a análise de discursos sobre o idoso e a noção de representação. Trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica baseada em publicações nacionais selecionadas em periódicos, livros e dissertações indexados na internet, acessados nas bases de dados: Lilacs, Google Acadêmico e Scielo, num recorte temporal de onze anos (1999 a 2010), através das palavras-chave combinadas: idoso, institucionalização, ILPI e discurso sobre o idoso. Conforme os critérios de inclusão, sete publicações foram analisadas através da Análise de Conteúdo (Bardin, 1979) e discutidas em duas categorias: o discurso sobre a opção pela institucionalização e a existência de práticas de discursos sobre o idoso que evidenciam o vínculo institucional. Os dados apontam que os discursos sobre os idosos institucionalizados indicam necessidades de um vínculo com a instituição, porém este ambiente institucional, estruturado por relações de poder pode favorecer a perda de autonomia e identidade e o isolamento. Torna-se necessário, portanto, um esforço político orientado no sentido de colocar na agenda da sociedade as necessidades deste segmento populacional.
Aging, in a country like Brazil, shows great complexity and is considered a problem of social order. The demand for long-term care institutions for the elderly, given the demographic and social perspective, is increasing and represents a new alternative housing for the elderly. This qualitative study aimed to understand the discourse of institutionalization of the elderly and the existence of practices that favor the bond with the place and routine care in this environment, proposing making the analysis of discourses on the elderly and the notion of representation. This is a literature review based on selected national publications in journals, books and dissertations indexed on the Internet, accessed in databases: Lilacs, SciELO and Google Scholar, a time frame of eleven years (1999-2010), through the words key combination: elderly, institutionalization, Long Term Care Institution for the Elderly and speech on the elderly. As inclusion criteria, seven publications were analyzed through content analysis (Bardin, 1979) and discussed in two categories: speaking about the choice of institutionalization and the existence of practical discourses on the elderly show that the institutional affiliation. Data indicate that the discourse on the institutionalized elderly needs indicate a link with the institution, but this institutional environment, structured by power relations may favor the loss of autonomy and identity and isolation. It becomes necessary, therefore, a political effort directed toward putting on the company agenda, the needs of this population segment.
