RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES The objectives were to study diagnostic means, therapeutic methods and their results at the two university hospitals in lome. It is about descriptive retrospective study carry out at Tokoin and Campus hospitals, from 1[st] January 1990 to 31 December 1999 [10 years]. Patients were chosen on the histological proof. Results with 63 cases colliged in 10 years on 104 cancers of digestive tract, gastric cancer occupped the uppermost [60.6%] in digestive cancers. Sex-ratio was 1.7 and average age of the patients was 52, 6 years old with extreme of 20 and 85 years old. The clinic was dominated by abdominal pains [71.4%]. Vegetative ulcerous [50%] and ulcerous [21.7%] lesions were the most frequent with a predominance of pyloric antrum localisation [71.7%]. Adenocarcinoma was histologic type frequentty refound [87.3%]. On the therapeutic way 29 patients have benefited surgical treatment, 46% of operability. Resection rate was 32% and palliative treatment was 51.7%. The postoperative mortality rate was 13.8%. Gastric cancer prognosis remain bad with a survival of 7% in one year and 21% in 3 months
