RESUMEN

A new modification to the traditional Z plasty was described and applied for the treatment of pilonidal sinus after radical excision. This modification is based on the recent concept of fascio-cutaneous flaps. Twenty patients were subjected to this study with excellent results. No recurrence was encountered with follow up between 9 to 27 months. There was no case of flap tip necrosis, hematoma, abscess or pruritus and all cases healed by primary intention. The technique is simple and can be done by average general surgeons

RESUMEN

Obscured acute lower abdominal pain, especially in females in reproductive age, is one of the most difficult challenges facing surgeons in the emergency room. This study included 33 females having this problem in an attempt to evaluate the role of laparoscopy in this field. In 18 cases the problem could be solved by a laparoscopic surgical intervention while in the rest of patients laparotomy was avoided with exception of 2 cases. Through this limited number of patients, laparoscopy proved both effective and safe in this field

RESUMEN

Eighty hernia repairs were performed laparoscopically. The approach was transabdominal preperitoneal and 3 different types of repair were performed according to each case including 3 ring plasties, 32 iliopubic tract repairs and 45 mesh repairs. A new knot guide was devised for guiding and tying knots and thus no stapling devise was used and cost reduced. Results were satisfactory with no recurrence over 6-14 months of follow up
