Recently, it has been reported that l-benzoyl-2-thiobiuret [la] [yellow] which exists in the thione form [thio-lactam] cylices to 6-phenyi-1,2,3,4-[or 2,3,4,6-] tetrahydrothioxo- l,3,5-thiazine-2-one [II] on being treated with 4 N aqueous sodium hydroxide, whereas its phenyl derivative [Ib] gives on similar treatment 5-phenyl-2-thiobiuret [III]

Addition of hydrazine hydrate and phenyl-hydrazine to 1benzoyl-2-thiobiuret and its 5-phenyl derivative

Recently, it has been reported that the addition of urea and phenyl urea to benzoyl isothiocyanate, gave the monoadducts, namely l-benzoyl-2-thiobiuret [la] and l-benzoyl-5-phenyl-2-thiobiuret [1b], respectively. The present investigation deals with the addition of hydrazine hydrate and phenylhydrazine to compounds [la and b] in order to establish the structure and/or configuration of the products as well as the scope of the reactions. Thus, treatment of l-benzoyl-2-thiobiuret [la] or l-benzoyl-5-phenyl-2-thiobiuret [1b] with 99 percent hydrazine hydrate in refluxing ethanol gave the hitherto unknown triazoles [IIa and b], respectively

Nucleophilic reactivity: the influence of solvents on reaction velocity between pyridines and ethyl iodide

Nucleophilic rate constants for the reaction of pyridine, piperidine, 2,4,6 - trimethylpyridine, 2-,3-,4-, piclones with ethyl iodide in different protic and aprotic solvents were determined. The effect of Taft, Kamlet and Abboud alpha, beta and pi [*] for solvents on the reaction rate constants were investigated comparatively
