Effect of Shexiang Baoxin Pills on isoprenaline-induced myocardial cell hypertrophy and Cx43 expression / 中南大学学报(医学版)

Objective:To observe the effects of Shexiang Baoxin Pill (SBP) on isoprenaline (Iso)-induced changes in myocardial cell volume,shape,and connexin 43 (Cx43) expression.Methods:HgC2 myocardial cells were randomly divided into a control group,a Iso group and a Iso+SBP group.After 72 h of culture,the average surface area of HgC2 cells was measured under phase contrast microscope.Bicinchoninic acid (BCA) protein assay was carried out to determine the concentration of proteins.The survival rate of myocardial cells was measured by methylthiazolyldiphenyl-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay,and the Cx43 expression was detected by Western blot.Results:The mean surface area and Cx43 concentration in Iso-treated myocardial cells were increased under the phase contrast microscope (P<0.05).Compared with the Iso group,the mean surface area was decreased,and the Cx43 concentration was reduced in the Iso+SBP group (both P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the Cx43 expression was obviously down-regulated in the H9C2 cells of the Iso group (P<0.05);while compared with the Iso group,the Cx43 expression was obviously up-regulated in the Iso+SBP group (P<0.05).Conclusion:Shexiang Baoxin Pills can prevent Iso-induced myocardial hypertrophy and down-regulate Cx43 expression.

Effect of Qingfei Decoction on Nitric Oxide and 8-isoPG in Exhaled Breath Condensate of ARDS Patients / 中国中西医结合杂志

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the clinical significance of nitric oxide (NO) and 8-isoprostane (8-isoPG) changes in exhaled breath condensate ( EBC) of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) patients after treated by Qingfei Decoction (QD).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Totally 48 ARDS patients receiving mechanical ventilation were equally assigned to the QD treatment group and the control group by random digit table. EBC specimens were collected by modified Ecoscreen breath condensate collector (German JAEGER Company) on the first day and the fifth day after confirmed diagnosis of ARDS. Concentrations of NO and 8-isoPG in EBC were measured by ELISA. The oxygenation index and APACHE II scores were recorded at the same time.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>(1) The fatality rate in the QD treatment group was lower than that in the control group (8.3% vs 37.5%, P < 0.05). (2) After treatment NO and 8-isoPG concentrations in EBC were lower in the QD treatment group (34.49 ± 5.67 µmol/L, 30.09 ± 7.89 ng/L) than in the control group (39.78 ± 9.27 µmol/L, 35.65 ± 8.90 ng/L; P < 0.05). (3) After treatment improved oxygenation index value was higher in the QD treatment group than in the control group (120.88 ± 35.16 vs 101.50 ± 37.70, P < 0.05). After treatment APACHEII scores was lower in the QD treatment group than in the control group (6.21 ± 3.51 vs 10. 26 ± 4.33, P < 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Treatment of ARDS patients by QD was favorable in controlling inflammation, alleviating lung injury, and improving clinical efficacy.</p>

Voice fatigue test analysis in secondary school teachers / 中华耳鼻咽喉头颈外科杂志

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the status of voice fatigue and throat disease in the secondary school teachers in Urumqi.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>This study included 11 689 teachers from 109 secondary schools offered by Teaching and Researching Center of Urumqi as the second-stage random sampling. Among them, 3217 teachers were selected to carry out voice fatigue test and routine examination of throat. For those with abnormal routine inspection results, the stroboscopic laryngoscopy were added.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The failure rate difference of 3217 secondary school teachers voice fatigue tests during different periods had statistical significance (F = 202.653, P < 0.05). The failure rate difference of voice fatigue test among different throat diseases groups had statistical significance (F = 9.516, P < 0.05). There was statistical significance in failure rates of the voice fatigue tests between 908 cases of disease group and 2309 cases of normal group among different genders and periods (P < 0.05). Female teachers had higher failure rates than male teachers in voice fatigue tests. High failure rates appeared when high volume required for male and female teachers in voice fatigue tests. There was statistical significance in mean value sound pressure level (MVSPL) and mean value fundamental frequency (MVF0) of the voice fatigue tests between different gender and periods (P < 0.05). Male teachers had higher MVSPL than female teachers, female teachers had higher MVF0 than male teachers. There was statistical significance in failure rates of the voice fatigue tests among teachers from different tribes in different periods (P < 0.05). The Uighur had the highest failure rate, while Han had the lowest. Make further pairwise comparisons, failure rates difference of the Han and the Uighur in the voice fatigue tests during different periods had statistical significance. Comparison among other tribes had no statistical significance (P > 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Voice fatigue is common in secondary school teachers. Female teachers tend to get voice fatigue more easily, when required high volume, the voice fatigue is more serious. Uighurs teachers have highest degree of voice fatigue.</p>

Influence of Cyclosporin on C-Reactive Protein, Transforming Growth Factor-?1,Matrix Metalloproteinases and Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinases in Rats with Asthma / 实用儿科临床杂志

Objective To explore the influence of cyclosporin on C-reactive protein (CRP),transforming growth factor-?1( TGF- ?1), matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) in rats with asthma. Methods Eighty SD rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, dexamethasone group,low- dose and high-dose of cyclosporin groups. The changes of CRP, TGF-?1, MMPs and TIMPs in samples were measured by computerized image analysis system.Results The contents of CRP, TGF-?1, MMPs and TIMPs in model group were significantly higher than those of control group(all P0.05).Conclusion CRP,TGF-?1,MMPs and TIMPs are related to asthma and certain dose of cyclosporin is similar to hormone.

ERCP image findings and their relationship with tumor size and staging / 中华消化内镜杂志

Objective To study on ERCP findings correlating with tumor size and staging of pancre- atic cancer(PC).Methods We selected 35 patients with PC who were identified by surgery and/or pathol- ogy and had undergone ERCP with clear imaging findings.The lengths of pancreatic duct and common bile duct stricture as well as the diameter of upstream dilated pancreatic or bile duct were measured on ERCP films.The ralationship among ERCP findings and tumor size and JPS T-stage of PC were analysed by correla- tion analysis.Results Of the 35 patients with PC,ERCP showed the pancreatic duct stricture in 25 and cut- off of pancreatic duct in 10(7 of them,the lesion lengths were revealed after a guide wire advanced beyond the obstructive site)and common bile duct stricture in 31.The correlation coefficients between tumor size and lengths of pancreatic duct or common bile duct stricture were 0.709(P=0.0001)and 0.540(P=0.0053) respectively.The correlation coefficient between JPS T-stage and lengths of pancreatic duct stricture was 0.514(P=0.0052).Conclusion The length of pancreatic duct stricture in ERCP was positively correlated with the tumor size and staging of PC.But it is not consistent when the length of stricture is rather short.The lengths of bile duct stricture also have some effects on predicting the tumor size of pancreatic head cancer.
