vacuum extractor-a comparative study with the obstetric forceps

From November, 1963 till May, 1966, a total of 4045 deliveries were performed in the Alexandria Maternity Hospital. Of these 270 [6.67%] patients were successfully delivered by the Malmstrom Vacuum Extractor, and 174 [4.30%] patients were delivered by the obstetric forceps. The cases delivered by the vacuum extractor were studied and compared to those delivered by the obstetric forceps. The data obtained were discussed and matched with those reported by different authors

Two hundred and sixty cases of fibroid uteri operated upon by myomectomy or hysterectomy, were analysed clinically. It was found that most cases presented in the age of 35 to 44 years.
