Among 474 patients with peptic ulcer symptoms who were referred for upper G.I.T endoscopy in Saddam General Hospital, 144 patients had normal [negative] endoscopic examination. Fifty seven patients, from the group were randomly allocated and compared with [51] control group [with no ulcer symptoms], underwent ultrasound examination for detection of gallbladder stones. Ten cases of the patients group and three of the control group [17.5% and 6% respectively] showed gallbladder stones. The difference is statistically significant, [p value = 0.05]
