RESUMEN

Through literature research and standard retrieval, Corydalis-derived medicinal materials, the origins, and related standards were summarized. Finally, 27 medicinal materials were screened out, involving 71 species(varieties). Among them, only 11 are recorded in Chinese Pharmacopoeia(2020), National Standard for Chinese Patent Drugs·Tibetan Medicine, Tibetan Medicine Standards, and other local standards, including Corydalis Bungeanae Herba and Corydalis Herba. The names and original plants of the medicinal materials are different in different standards, and the phenomena of "same medicinal material with different names" and "same name for different medicinal materials" are prominent. Most standards only include the traits, microscopic identification, and physico-chemical property identification, with unsound quality criteria. Thus, efforts should be made to strengthen the sorting of Corydalis medicinal plants, herbal textual research, and investigation of the resources and utilization. Moreover, via modern techniques, the chemical components and medicinal material basis of different original plants should be explored and sound quality standards should be established to improve the safety and quality of Corydalis-derived medicinal materials. Summarizing Corydalis medicinal plants, Corydalis-derived medicinal materials, and related standards, this study is expected to provide a reference for the standard formulation, quality evaluation, expansion of drug sources, and rational development and utilization of Corydalis resources.

Codonopsis Radix, one of the bulk commodities, has been commonly used for tonification in clinical practice. Apart from the medicinal purpose, it can also be utilized as food. Among the multiple local varieties, the ones called "Luduiduoji" in Tibetan medicine cannot be neglected, which have frequently been adopted for diminishing inflammation and swelling, invigorating spleen and stomach, and tonifying Qi, etc. Considering its complex origins and frequent substitution by or confusion with other medicinal materials, this paper reviewed the Si Bu Yi Dian, Jingzhu Bencao, ministerial and local standards, modern literature on Tibetan medicine, and the results of field investigation in major Tibetan medicine hospitals and medicinal material markets of Sichuan, Qinghai and Tibet to figure out the name, original plants, medicinal parts, effects, and local varieties of Codonopsis Radix in Tibetan medicine. The results showed that the names of local varieties were diverse, many of which were transliterated into Tibetan, with "Luduiduoji" being most well-known. It was derived from 14 species in genus Codonopsis and one in Adenophora of family Campanulaceae, with Codonopsis foetens subsp. nervosa, C. thalictrifolia var. mollis, C. canescens, C. alpina, and C. pilosula being the main species. According to literature records, the roots, aerial parts, and whole plants could all be employed as medicine, but there were certain differences in their clinical applications. At present, in order to protect the medicinal resources, Tibetan medical workers mostly collect the aerial parts, which are applicable to patients with yellow water, rheumatism, Gamba disease, and leprosy. This literature review of local varieties for Codonopsis Radix and textual research on their original plants are of great significance for elevating the standard, accelerating the pharmacodynamic research, expanding the sources and promoting the rational use of Codonopsis Radix.

Objective:To study the resources and medicinal use of Tibetan medicine Codonopsis canescens,analyze its suitable habitat,and protect its wild resources,in order to provide an important reference basis for further rational development and utilization. Method:Combined investigation methods of literature textual research,visiting investigation and on-the-spot investigation were adopted. Result:In this paper,we investigated the resources and medicinal use of C. canescens in 27 cities and counties of Sichuan,Qinghai and Tibet. Compared with historical records of C. canescens,the results showed that there was no obvious change in the distribution range,and the distribution was uneven in different places. Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan, boasts rich resources; in particular, Luhuo county has as high as 90-120 plants/100 m2, it is estimated that the reserves per unit area of root C. canescens in this area were 3 445.32 g·m-2,which totaled 1 279.18 ton(1 ton=1 000 kg). In history,the root is the main medicinal part. However, in recent years,in order to protect resources,the aboveground part is frequently used. The clinical efficacy of Tibetan medicine is mainly to tonify Qi and activate blood circulation. It can be combined with other drugs to treat rheumatism,sores,furuncle,carbuncle and other diseases. However,the plants of Codonopsis are mixed with C. canescens in each Tibetan area,and the mixed varieties are determined according to the growing varieties of the same genus in this area. Conclusion:The reserves of wild resources of C. canescens are decreasing with the increase of clinical use and market demand of Tibetan medicine. There is serious mixture of Codonopsis plants in Tibetan areas. It is suggested paying attention to resource protection,carrying out artificial planting,establishing the standard for the medicinal use of Tibetan medicine,and promote rational and sustainable utilization of resources.

Objective:The chemical constituents of ethanol extracts from Paederia scandens,P. scandens var.tomentosa,P. stenophylla and P. foetida used in folk were identified. And the differences of chemical constituents among the four kinds of ethanol extracts were compared. Method:The chemical constituents of four species of Paederia were qualitatively and rapidly analyzed by UPLC-Q-TOF-MS. The data were analyzed manually and matched through databases to determine the differences among the chemical constituents of four species of Paederia. Result:Twenty-three compounds were identified from four species, including 12 iridoid glycosides,such as paederoside,paederosidic acid,asperuloside,asperulosidic acid,paederosidic acid methyl ester and monotropein.5 quinic acid derivatives, such as 1-O-caffeoylquinic acid,chlorogenic acid,cryptochlorogenic acid,and 5 flavonoid glycosides,such as quercetin-3-O-rutinoside-7-O-glucoside,quercetin-3-O-rutinoside-7-O-xyloside,rutin and simple compoundkinsenoside. Conclusion:Based on the UPLC-Q-TOF-MS analysis of the chemical components of four kinds of Paederia,the four peaks with the highest response intensity were paederoside,paederosidic acid,asperuloside and asperulosidic acid,all of which were iridoid glycosides.

Objective: To study the correlation between the content changes of main medicinal ingredients and the color values of Rhei Radix et Rhizoma during storage based on the principle of chromaticity analysis,and to provide reference for studying on the mechanism of discoloration and improving the quality evaluation of Rhei Radix et Rhizoma. Method: Simulated accelerated test was adopted in this study, where Rhei Radix et Rhizoma was stored under high temperature(40±5)℃,high humidity RH(92.5±5)%and strong light(4 000±500)Lx conditions to accelerate its discoloration. For the samples taken at different time points,the color value was determined by spectrophotometer and the total contents of anthraquinone and free anthraquinones,sennoside A,B,catechin and gallic acid were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The correlation between the effective components and the color value of rhubarb was analyzed by SPSS software. Result: During the storage process,it was observed by the eye that the color of Rhei Radix et Rhizoma was significantly darker and darker in the simulated acceleration test. According to the analysis of the chromaticity value results,the changes of chromaticity values L*and E*ab of Rhei Radix et Rhizoma were significantly negatively correlated with free strontium content(PPa* was significantly negatively correlated with gallic acid(PPConclusion: There is a certain correlation between the change of color value and the content of six medicinal ingredients during Rhei Radix et Rhizoma storage.

Anthraquinones,dianthrones and tannins are the main active ingredients of Rheum tanguticum. In this study the three components were determined by HPLC,and the results were analyzed by multiple comparisons,principal components analysis(PCA)and correspondence analysis(CA). The results showed that the contents of components in different growing areas and types(wild and cultivated) reached a significant level(P<0. 05). Baiyu county,Xiaojin county and Ruoergai county had obvious advantages in the accumulation of catechin hydrate,rhien and sensenoside A respectively. The principal component was different in two growing type and the wild environment was conducive to combined anthraquinones accumulation. For active components,normalized planting was better than retail cultivating. Therefore,the effect on the accumulation of chemical components in Rh. tangusticum,should be taken into full account in the selection of the cultural base of Rh. tanguticum. The standardized cultivating is superior to retail cultivating in terms of the accumulation of active ingredients,and standardized planting is inferior to the wild.

This study was designed to evaluate the effects of cord blood mononuclear cell transplantation in multiple system atrophy [MSA]. Cord blood mononuclear cells [1-2 × 10 8 cells/6 ml] were injected into the subarachnoid space using lumbar puncture in patients 1 and 2 and cisterna magna puncture in patient 3 in the 3 patients with MSA. The cord blood mononuclear cell transplantation was repeated 30 days after the first treatment in patients 1 and 2; it was repeated twice in patient 3. The clinical outcomes of treatment were used to assess the Unified Multiple System Atrophy Rating Scale [UMSARS] before, 90 and 180 days after the cell transplantation. There were no clinically noticeable side effects from the cord blood mononuclear cells. The UMSARS scores improved after 90 days of the cord blood mononuclear cell therapy in all 3 patients, the most significant improvement being that in urinary incontinence and ability to walk. Cord blood mononuclear cell transplantation was safe and potentially effective in the treatment of MSA in the 3 patients

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To analyze the correlation between the perfusion data and microvessel density (MVD) in ovarian tumors, and investigate the hemodynamic features of the tumors in terms of anatomy and functional CT imaging.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Six patients with surgically confirmed benign ovarian tumors and 6 with malignant ovarian tumors underwent multi-slice CT perfusion imaging to acquire the perfusion parameters including perfusion, PEI, TTP, BV peak enhancement image(PEI), time to peak(TTP) and blood volume(BV). The tumors were stained and counted by Immunohistochemical staining of the microvessels in the tumor was performed to detect the MVD.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>s The time-density curves of the benign ovarian tumors increased slowly, reaching the peak at 40 s; the curves of the malignant tumors rose rapidly and continuously and reached the peak at 25 s. The differences in the perfusion data (PEI, TTP, BV) were statistically significant between the benign and malignant tumors (P<0.05). The MVD of the malignant tumors was significantly greater than that of the benign tumors (P<0.05). The mean BV of the malignant ovarian tumor was positively correlated to MVD (r=0.786, P<0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Multi-slice spiral CT perfusion imaging can provide accurate enhancement data of the ovarian tumors and helps in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of the ovarian tumors by presenting the changes of the hemodynamic features in the tumors.</p>

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of the atypical leiomyoma in the female reproductive system in comparison with the pathological features of the neoplasms.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A retrospective analysis of the MRI findings and the pathological features was conducted in 24 cases of atypical leiomyoma involving the female reproductive system.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Atypical leiomyomas were displayed by MRI as solid tumor mass surrounded by cystic degeneration, pseudotumors, or solid mass with homogeneous signal intensity. Intrauterine lesions were found in 19 cases, involving the subserosal layer (n=11), intramural region (n=4), broad ligament (n=3), cervix (n=2), submucous layer (n=2), vagina (n=1), and the ovary (n=1). Except for two cases with submucous lesions shown as solid mass, all the cases had lesions appearing as solid cystic mass, whose solid part showed hypo or isointense signals on T1WI and moderate hyperintense signals on T2WI, with heterogeneous enhancement after contrast agent injection. Tumor cell and interstitial cell swelling, vascular hyalinosis, hyalinosis, myxoedema, cystic degeneration, and hemorrhage were found in the lesions.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Leiomyoma can occur at almost any site in the female reproductive system, and atypical leiomyoma usually are shown as solid cystic mixed mass in the pelvic cavity. Evaluation of the relationship between the solid mass and cystic portion and observation for the presence of low signal on T2WI may help in the diagnosis of atypical leiomyoma.</p>

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the anatomy of the facial artery using 16-slice spiral CT angiography (CTA).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Forty-five patients without vascular pathologies or other anomalies underwent 16-slice spiral CT angiography after injection of 350 mg I/ml Omnipaque through the ulnar vein. MIP and volume rendering of the images were performed to analyze the left and right facial artery.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The left facial artery arose from the external carotid artery with the distances from the carotid artery bifurcation of 4.5-47.90 mm (mean 18.77-/+8.98 mm), and in 1 case (2.2%), the artery arose from the common carotid artery. The right facial artery arose from the external carotid artery in all the 45 cases (100%) with distances from the carotid artery bifurcation of 6.8-39.70 mm (mean 19.23-/+8.25 mm). The bilateral facial arteries more commonly arose from the external carotid artery independently, and the lingual artery and facial artery sharing the same trunk arising from the external carotid artery was less common. In 1 case, the left facial artery and the submental artery shared the same trunk, and in another case, the left facial artery, thyroid artery and lingual artery shared the same trunk. The diameter of the left facial artery ranged from 1.40 to 4.70 mm (mean 2.83-/+0.77 mm), and that of the right facial artery was 1.60-4.30 mm (mean 2.81-/+0.79 mm). The left facial artery ended below the angle of the mouth in 12 cases (26.67%), between the angle of the mouth and the nasal wing in 7 cases (15.56%), and above the nasal wing in 26 cases (57.77%). The right facial artery ended below the angle of the mouth in 7 cases (15.56%), between the angle of the mouth and the nasal wing in 12 cases (26.67%), and above the nasal wing in 26 cases (57.77%). The bilateral facial arteries frequently passed through the submandibular gland parenchyma (23 cases on the left and 24 cases on the right), and the facial arteries were found occasionally to run below the submandibular gland (11 cases on the left and 9 on the right).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>16-slice spiral CT angiography can help in preoperative facial artery evaluation noninvasively. This modality can clearly display the bilateral facial arteries, including their origin, course, distribution and ending to provide detailed information for flap designing before plastic surgery and for preoperative evaluation for microvascular surgery.</p>

RESUMEN

A field trial was carried out to study the influence of different kinds of spring topdressing on growth, yield and quality of Ligusticum chuanxiong. The results showed that the spring topdressing had effects of improving root length, tiller numbers and plant height to some extent. At the same time the chlorophyll content and dry weight accumulation especially the dry weight of root increased significantly. It also showed that the yield increased and quality was improved significantly. The effect of different treatment with urea58.7 kg x hm(-2)(N 27 kg x hm(-2)) was the best and the treatment with N,P,K the second.

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the specific immune response induced by a recombinant eukaryotic expression plasmid encoding bcr-abl fusion gene fragment so as to explore new immunotherapy in mouse.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A recombinant eukaryotic vector pVbcr-abl expression cDNA fragment of bcr-abl fusion gene was constructed and used to immunize BALB/c mice. Serum level of bcr-abl specific antibody was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Twenty days later the immunized mice were subcutaneously inoculated SP2/0/bcr-abl cells. The survival time, tumor growth time and lymphocytic infiltration were observed. T cells infiltration into tumor tissue was analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Changes of T cell subset in the spleen of mice was analyzed by fluorescent-activated cell sorting (FACS) and the cytotoxicity T lymphocyte (CTL) activity in spleen by lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)-release assay.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The eukaryotic expression vector pVbcr-abl was constructed successfully, and highly expressed the cDNA fragment of bcr-abl fusion gene. The BALB/c mice immunized with the vector could generate the specific antibody and CTL, resulting in a specific immunoprotection. There were dramatic differences in the tumor-forming time, tumor ulcer appearing time and tumor-growing speed between the immunized and the control groups. The mice had longer survival time in the immunized group than in the control group. There were a large amount of CD3(+) T cells infiltration in tumor tissue of the immunized mice. The spleen cells from the immunized mice had higher CTL activity with a alteration of T cell subset, the CD4(+)/CD8(+) ratio being 1.54 +/- 0.29, higher than that of control group (1.18 +/- 0.30).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The recombinant eukaryotic expression plasmid pVbcr-abl can induce in vivo not only the generation of specific antibody, but also high level of specific CTL activity, resulting in killing the SP2/0/bcr-abl tumor cells directly and inhibiting the tumor growth.</p>

To study the influence of vaccine of bcr-abl fusion gene fragment on inoculated SP2/0/bcr-abl tumor cells in mice, BALB/c mice were immunized with pVbcr-abl, pVbcr-abl/mIL7 plasmids, respectively, then SP2/0/bcr-abl cells expressing the fragment of bcr-abl fusion gene were inoculated subcutaneously into the groin of BALB/c mice in order to observe the effect of vaccine on growth of inoculated SP2/0/bcr-abl tumor cells. The results showed that there were distinct differences on the time of tumor growth, the time of tumor ulceration, tumor volume and survival time of mice bearing tumor between two immunized groups and two control groups (blank and vacant plasmid groups). The mice immunized with pVbcr-abl/mIL7 lived longer as compared to mice immunized with pVbcr-abl. The tissue of inoculated tumor was more compact, tumor organ was larger, tumor form was irregular in 2 control groups, while the tissue of inoculated tumor was looser, tumor volume was smaller, and with mass inflammatory infiltration in two immunized groups. Moreover, the metastatic tumor cells were found in the livers of control groups, but not observed in two immunized groups. It is concluded that the protection occurred in immunized mice which inhibited the growth of SP2/0/bcr-abl tumor cell in vivo.

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the effect of PPARgamma1 gene overexpression on caveolin-1 mRNA and protein expressions in a murine macrophage cell line Raw264.7.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Replication-deficient recombinant adenovirus expression vector of PPARgamma1 was constructed using the AdEasy system. Raw264.7 cells were randomly treated as follows: P group (PPARgamma1 gene overexpression), T group (Troglitazone 40 micromol/L in DMSO), PT group (PPARgamma1 gene overexpression and Troglitazone) and control group. Changes of PPARgamma1 and caveolin-1 at mRNA and protein levels were investigated.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Caveolin-1 expression can be detected by RT-PCR in Raw264.7, by immunocytochemistry method in cell and nuclear membrane but not by immunoblotting at protein level. Caveolin-1 expression at mRNA and protein levels in Raw264.7 were significantly higher in P, T and PT groups compared to control group and the expression was also significantly higher in PT group than that in P group and T group (P < 0.05). PPARgamma expression was significantly increased in PT group and P group where remained unchanged in T group compared to control group.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>PPARgamma1 overexpression can upregulate caveolin-1 expression in macrophages. Troglitazone upregulated caveolin-1 expression in the absence of increased PPARgamma1 expressions at mRNA and protein levels.</p>
