RESUMEN
There is nearly a complete consensus of opinion that a rise of basal metabolic rate BMR occurs during normal pregnancy. However, the foetal contribution to the observed changes in the BMR during pregnancy is still a subject for debate. Thus, the foetus as an extrathyroidal factor, that may contribute to the observed rise in BMR during pregnancy is the aim of the present investigation
