RESUMEN

Background@#Following the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in Wuhan, China, a total of 637 patients had been diagnosed with the disease in Seoul as of May 2, 2020. Our study aimed to describe the impact of the 3T strategies (preemptive testing, prompt tracing and proper treatment) on the epidemiological characteristics of COVID-19 in Seoul. @*Methods@#The descriptive and explanatory analysis was carried out on critical indicators such as epidemiological characteristics and key duration of patient status change from January 24 to May 2 in Seoul before and after preemptive testing for patients under investigation associated with COVID-19 clusters. @*Results@#Preemptive testing increased the positive test rate (3.9% to 4.2%), an asymptomatic case at diagnosis (16.9% to 30.6%), and reduced the time from symptom onset to quarantine (4.0 to 3.0 days). Prompt tracing decreased unknown sources of infection (6.9% to 2.8%), the mean number of contacts (32.2 to 23.6), and the time-varying reproduction number R(t) (1.3 to 0.6). With proper treatment, only 2 cases of mortality occurred, resulting in a fatality rate of just 0.3%. @*Conclusion@#In the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic lasting 100 days, the effect of the 3T strategies flattened the curve and decreased the time during which infected individuals were contagious, thereby lowering the R(t) below 1 in Seoul.

RESUMEN

The purpose of this study is to examine the validity of the College of Dentistry transfer system. The study focused on the correlation between entree examination results and class achievement of transfer students and double major students, grades difference according to school year and their major of previous schools. Also, there was the comparison of school life satisfaction among the transfer students, double major students and ordinary students of dentistry school. The result of the research is as follows; First, there was no significant relation between the entree examination results and class achievement of transfer students and double major students, suggesting the entree examination results cannot be a reasonable prediction for class achievements. Second, there was no significant difference in the grades according to school year and their major of previous schools, showing that students can well adjust themselves no matter what their majors are. Third, there was a significant difference in transfer and double major students' grades, and showed higher achievement as their school year passed. Fourth, the transfer and double major students were more satisfied in school life than the ordianry students. On the basis of the above findings we can conclude the transfer student system of college of dentistry was successful, but needs some improvements in such as student selection, welfare facilities and school culture.

RESUMEN

Lipohyperplasia is a lesion characterized by diffuse infiltration of lipocyte in the submucosal layer, which was formally known as 'lipomatosis' or 'lipomatous hyperplasia'. Lipohyperplasia is distinguished from lipoma, the former is not encapsulated and has normal mucosa. Most of lipohyperplasia developed at the ileocecal valve, showed clinical manifestation of abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, intestinal intussuception and intestinal obstruction. We experienced a case of a 45-year-old woman who had polypoid lipohyperplasia of the stomach. Her chief complaint was recurrent epigastric discomfort. Endoscopic finding was a 10 9 mm sized polypoid lesion in the anterior wall of lower body of the stomach. Endoscopic polypectomy was performed and the histological examination revealed infiltration of lipocyte in the submucosal layer.

RESUMEN

Nursing Diagnosis has evolved in the guest to define nursing and its functions. But for the application to clinical practice an unified system of terminology that help nurses to assess selected data and identify potential or actual client problems is required. Consistent terminology that captures the real meanings of the nursing diagnosis makes oral and written communication more accurate and efficient. Already we had performed to deliver a Korean -translated version of the 98 nursing diagnoses through the process of content validity tests and translations, and additionally performed to deliver a Korean-translated version of another 17 nursing diagnoses. The list of 17 nursing diagnoses were reviewed by our research team and two linguists, one specialized in Korean and the other in English. 17 diagnoses were mailed to 719 subjects to test content validity from December 10, 1997 to January 24, 1998, Among 719 questionnaires, 185 were used for analysis. Total mean score of the diagnoses was 3.72 on the 5 point likert scale. The diagnoses that acquired less than 3.50 were 'Risk for altered parent/infant/child attachment'(3.28), 'Potential for enhanced organized infant behavior'(3.40), 'Potential for enhanced community coping' & 'Risk for disorganized infant behavior'(3.49). We suggest to conduct tests for validation of related factors and characteristics of these 17 Nursing Diagnosis.
