RESUMEN

Objective:To analyze the attenuation of immobilization baseplate of carbon fiber for ray and the change of dose verification results for enhanced radiation field of MatriXX. And to primarily research the influence of this immobilization baseplate for the dose distribution of radiation field of radiotherapy. Methods: 20 patients with cervical cancer were enrolled in the research. The angle of gantry was 180°in the enhanced plan of immobilization field, and the corresponding verification plans were designed. When the verification plan was implemented on the Varian Clinac iX of accelerator, the two-dimensional ionization chamber array (MatriXX) was used to measure dose distributions of the plan. The immobilization baseplate of carbon fiber (ORFIT AIO) was used in the research. The situations of no baseplate (A group), one baseplate (B group), two baseplates (C group)and three baseplates (D group)between the handpiece of accelerator and Matri XX were researched, respectively. The data of the 4 groups were obtained by using software (OminiPro I'mRT), and the largest dose point and passing rate of Gamma in plane of radiation field were counted and analyzed. Results: Compared with A group, the average attenuation factors for ray on the largest dose point of B, C and D group in the plane of radiation field were (1.73±0.11)%, (3.44±0.36)%, and (5.48±0.44)%, respectively. The passing rates of Gamma in the 4 groups were (94.87±2.31)%, (99.18±0.61)%, (99.79±0.27)% and (96.24±1.99)%, respectively. And the differences of passing rate between each group and A group were statistical significance (t=9.788,t=9.261,t=2.256,P<0.05).Conclusion:The immobilization baseplate of carbon fiber has influence for the attenuation of high-energy X-rays and it can affect the dose distribution of radiation field which has passed baseplate in some degrees. And when physicists calculates the dose, they should consider the effect of immobilization baseplate of carbon fiber for dose distribution of radiation field.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo investigate individualized one-staged correction of alveolar cleft and lip and nasal deformities secondary to lip cleft.

METHODSThe alveolar cleft and lip and nasal deformities secondary to lip cleft were corrected in one stage.

RESULTSFrom 2004 to 2007, 37 cases were treated. 33 patients were treated successfully with primary healing in bony recipient area. Cancellous bone exposure happened in 3 cases. The wounds healed after debridement and drainage. The cosmetic results were satisfactory.

CONCLUSIONSOne-staged correction of alveolar cleft and the lip and nasal deformities secondary to lip cleft can achieve good results.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo investigate the regulatory mechanism of parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP) in proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes of condyle in fetal mouse.

METHODSChondrocytes of condyle in fetal mouse were separated and cultured in vitro, the influence of PTHrP on proliferation and differentiation was observed.

RESULTSAfter two weeks' culture in 0.01 nmol/L, 0.1 nmol/L, 1 nmol/L, 10 nmol/L human PTHrP, there was significant difference in the number of cartilage nodule formed between experiment group and control group (P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in 0.01 nmol/L group (P>0.05). Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity was significantly intensified in experiment group and control group (P<0.05). Meanwhile, it was found that this function of promotion was lessened after anti-PTHR antibody used.

CONCLUSIONIt can be seen that PTHrP, via its receptor, can promote proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes of condyle, which resemble its modulation mechanism in epiphyseal growth plate cartilage intramembrane in mandibule.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of FGF-8 on cranial neural crest cell (CNCC) differentiating into ectomesenchymal cell of the first branchial arch, and determine the appropriate dose and stage of CNCC exposure to FGF-8.

METHODSCranial neural crest explants were cultured in free-serum medium containing modified DMEM/F12 and different doses of FGF-8. The differentiation type of CNCC were determined by in situ hybridization for Hoxa2 and immunocytochemistry for vimentin.

RESULTSPre-emigrating CNCC demonstrated the negative Hoxa2 stain and positive vimentin stain after treated by 100 ug/FGF-8. Both post-emigrating CNCC group and control group were positive for Hoxa2 and vimentin stain.

CONCLUSIONSOn the early stage of CNCC emigration, the first branchial arch phenotype of CNCC could be induced by FGF-8. This experiment could provide in vitro model for study on the mechanism of tooth-jaw regeneration.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo explore the correlation between neck lymph node metastasis and matrix metalloproteinase-2 expression at the invasive tumor front of oral squamous cell carcinomas(OSCC).

METHODSImmunohistochemistry LsAB technique was used to observe the expression of MMP-2 at the invasive tumor front and center of OSCC, and the correlation between the expression of MMP-2 in OSCC and neck lymph node metastasis were respectively analyzed by statistics.

RESULTSThe results demonstrated that MMP-2 existed in all 71 cases, which the expression of MMP-2 at the OSCC front was more significant than that of MMP-2 at the OSCC center (P < 0.01), and related to neck lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe expression of MMP-2 at the OSCC front could be considered as an index of judging the present of neck lymph node metastasis of OSCC.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVEAccording to development biology, cranial neural crest stem cell (CNCSC) can differentiate into precursor cells of tooth, jaw and peripheral nerve system, but in vitro study is less reported. In the present study, CNCSC were dissociated and cultured in vitro, and the biological characteristics of CNCSC was investigated.

METHODSCranial neural tubes, dissected from mouse E9d, were explanted onto fibronectin-coated dishes. CNCSCs emigrated from the explanted neural tubes, cultured in a serum-free medium containing modified DMEM/F12. Biological characteristics of CNCSC were detected by morphology, nuclear labeled with BurdU and immunocytochemistry.

RESULTSFibroblast-like CNCSCs demonstrated the characteristics of stem cell, such as clonality, self-renewal and multipotentiality. The result of immunocytochemical stain showed that CNCSC expressed HNK-1 antigen.

CONCLUSIONCNCSC were cultured successfully, providing a experimental basis for study on tooth/jaw-like differentiation of CNCSC in vitro, especially providing a cell source for investigating tooth/jaw regeneration.
