RESUMEN

Purpose@#The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of repeated audiovisual information on the reduction of uncertainty and anxiety in patients undergoing thyroidectomy. @*Methods@#A non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The study included 32 patients in the experimental group and 32 in the control group. Preoperative information using video-audio media was provided two times for 5 minutes and 45 seconds each in the experimental group, while the control group only received routine care. The data collection period was from November 1, 2017 to February 23, 2018. The data were analyzed using χ² test, t test, and independent t-test with SPSS/WIN 24.0. @*Results@#Significant differences were observed between the two groups in pre- and post-uncertainty scores (t = -2.06, p= .044) and anxiety scores (t = -2.06, p= .044). @*Conclusion@#Repeated information provided by using videoaudio media is effective as a nursing intervention to reduce uncertainty and anxiety in patients undergoing thyroidectomy.

RESUMEN

Cerebral venous angomas are a rare form of intracranial vascular malformation and first reported by Wolf in 1967. The characteristic angiographic appearance of venous malformation is a local network of small veins that converged centrally into a single large drainage vein. The CT findings are linear or curvilinear enhancement after administration of contrast media. The authors present a case of venous angiomatosis of the both hemisphere combined with dural arteriovenous malformations demonstrated by the carotid angiography and bran CT, with clinical presentation of status epilepcus and following left hemiplegia due to cerebral infarction.

RESUMEN

Spontaneous, nontraumatic midbrain hemorrhage is rare. The recent advent of CT scanning has led to recognition of smaller non fatal hemorrhage that could not have been diagnosed. About 19 cases of primary midbrrain hemorrhage have been reported in detail on the previous world literature. The authors recently encountered a hypertensive patient with small isolated mesencephalic hemorrhage documented by the CT scanning of brain, who clinically exhibited only bilateral ptosis and nuclear ophthalmoplegia. So we report a case of primary midbrain hemorrhage with the review of literature.
