RESUMEN

Aim of The study was to assess nursing intervention for neonatal infection through assessing nurse's knowledge and assessing the actual nursing intervention for neonatal infection. Research design a descriptive research design was utilized to conduct the study. Settings The study was carried out at neonatal intensive care until affiliated to different health care agency belonging to Ministry of Health, Private, and Governmental hospital at EL MAHALLA governorate which be chosen randomly and one of randomly university hospital in Cairo which affiliated to Ain Shams University. Subject A purposive sample consisted of all nurses [100] provide direct care to neon ate working at the previously mentioned setting. Tool of data collection were a questionnaire sheet to assess knowledge and observation checklists to assess nurses' practices for neonatal infection. the result of the study revealed that more than half of nurse had average knowledge, while more than three quartered of nurse had competent practice toward infection control. this study concluded that nurse's knowledge was inadequate, while competent with their practice. the study recommended to design an instructional guideline to cover nurses' knowledge and practice defect
