RESUMEN

Congenital anomalies of the genitourinary tract are the most common organ system anomalies. Ectopic kidney in pelvis is a kidney located outside the renal fossa, failed migration of ureteral bud and developing metanephric blastema to the renal fossa and rare fusion anomaly of the kidneys characterized by the presence of a displaced, lobulated pelvic renal mass. Herein we report a rare case of a patient presenting with single kidney in pelvis, review literatures and discuss prognosis of this case.

RESUMEN

Disturbance of consciousness in patients with multiple myeloma is usually related with uremia, hypercalcemia or hyperviscosity syndrome. Currently, hyperammonemic encephalopathy which accompanies characteristic change of amino acid levels in pheripheral blood has been reported as a rare cause of mental change in multiple myeloma. We experienced a case of hyperammonemic encephalopathy in a 60-year-old man with multiple myeloma who had shown transient response to the combination chemotherapy with melphalan and prednisolone. Measurement of amino acid concentrations in peripheral blood revealed high glycine/tyrosine ratio and low Fisher ratio. In spite of conventional treatment on hyperammonemic encephalopathy, he died of disease progression without improvement of consciousness level.

RESUMEN

Ischemic colitis can be caused either by vascular or colonic wall factor or by both. Shunting of blood away from the mucosa may contribute to ischemia of the colon, but the mechanism of ischemia is not known. Ischemic colitis precipitated by colonoscopy has rarely been reported. Potentially air insufflation or mechanical effect during colonoscopic examination can cause ischemic colitis as a colonic wall factor. Recently, we experienced a case of ischemic colitic, which had been developed several hours after colonoscopic polypectomy. So we report this case with brief review of literature.
