RESUMEN

AIM: To analyze the strabismus surgery situation of adolescents and children in Yunnan province.METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on medical records data of 3 068 adolescents and children who received strabismus surgery at Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University from January 2017 to December 2021. The analysis included gender, constituent ratio of age, distribution of strabismus types and combination with other ocular diseases, etc.RESULTS: Among the included patients, 52.12% were males, and 47.88% were females. Preschool patients(1 to 6 years old)accounted for 32.89%, primary pupils(7 to 12 years old)accounted for 45.89% and high school students(13 to 18 years old)accounted for 21.22%. Exotropia accounted for 63.17% of the total strabismus, of which intermittent exotropia was the most common type. Esotropia accounted for 19.69%, and concomitant esotropia was the most common type. The special type of strabismus accounted for 17.14%, and A-V syndrome and dissociative vertical deviation(DVD)were the most common types. Strabismus combined with ametropia accounted for 61.02% and amblyopia accounted for 10.89%. A few patients also combined with other eye diseases.CONCLUSION: In Yunnan province, intermittent exotropia was the most common type of strabismus among adolescents and children. Some patients combined with other ocular diseases.

RESUMEN

Salt is an important excipient for Chinese medicine salt. The standardization of its quality is conducive to ensuring the quality of Chinese medicine pieces. In this paper, the processing with brine and the processing auxiliary salt were studied from three aspects: the history evolution of salt, the history evolution of processing with brine, and the modern research of processing with brine. It has been found that salt plays an important role in the history of China. It has a long history and a wide variety. The salt used in the processing of traditional Chinese medicine mainly includes three categories: common salt, halitum and white salt. The quality of salt is closely related to its origin and processing, mainly based on the color and the place of origin. In ancient times, the varieties of salt used in the production of different Chinese herbal medicines were different, which might be related to the nature of drugs. The primary purpose of processing with brine is to increase the efficacy of drugs. At present, there are many reports on optimizing the preparation technology of processing with brine, but the evaluation indexes are quite different, and its scientific nature is to be discussed. The processing method with brine and its processing auxiliary materials are lacking of relevant evaluation standards and quality standards, which is not conducive to the healthy development of Chinese herbal pieces. In this paper, the relevant literature was studied in order to provide reference for the establishment of standards for salt processing excipient in traditional Chinese medicine.

RESUMEN

Objective: To investigate the hypolipidemic effects of powder of Panax notoginseng (PPN) and explore its possible mechanism. Methods: Hyperlipidemic rats model was established, and orally given three dosages of PPN for 8 weeks. The levels of serum ALT, AST, TC, TG, and LDL-C were detected. The pathological changes of liver tissues were observed by H&E staining. Gene expressions of hepatic low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR), SIRT1, and LXR-α were measured with RT-PCR analysis. Protein expression of SREBP-2 and SCAP was determined by Western blotting. Results: Three dosages of PPN significantly decreased serum ALT, AST, TC, TG, and LDL-C levels. Histological data indicated that PPN notably reduced liver injury and hepatic steatosis in hyperlipidemic rats. In molecular study, mRNA expression of hepatic LDLR and SIRT1 was up-regulated and LXR-α gene expression was down-regulated in PPN treated rats. Additionally, PPN significantly reduced protein expression of SREBP-2 and SCAP. Conclusion: The positive effect of PPN on hyperlipidemic rats may be related to the inhibition of cholesterol synthesis of PPN through the up-regulation of SIRT1 and down-regulation of LXR-α and SCAP/SREBP-2 signaling pathway. Additionally, PPN could up-regulate hepatic LDLR mRNA expression and improve uptake of LDL-C in circulation.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND:Studies on rhesus monkey bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are limited, and the differentiation potential of juvenile rhesus monkey BMSCs remains unknown.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the biological characteristics of rhesus monkey BMSCs isolated and cultured in vitro, and to identify the growth curve and phenotype of BMSCs.METHODS:BMSCs from juvenile rhesus monkeys were isolated and cultured by density gradient centrifugation and the whole bone marrow adherence methods.BMSCs at passages 2 and 7 were taken to draw cell growth curves by MTS method.Flow cytometry was used to detect apoptosis of passage 3 BMSCs and to detect expression of cell surface markers,CD29,CD34,CD45,CD90,CD147,in passage 4 BMSCs.Osteogenic and adipogenic abilities of passage 3 BMSCs were also detected.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The BMSCs at passages 2 and 7 were incubated at first 2 days, logarithmically grew at 3-7 days, and then proliferated slowly at 8 days. The BMSCs at passage 2 showed stronger proliferation than those at passage 7.At passage 3,BMSCs were negative for CD34 and CD45,but positive for CD90,CD29 and CD147.Results from the fiow cytometry showed that there were 73.83% living cells,21.76% dead cells, and 4.27% apoptotic cells.BMSCs could differentiate into osteoblasts and adipocytes under osteogenic and adipogenic induction, respectively. To conclude,BMSCs from the rhesus monkey have strong proliferation and multilineage differentiation abilities in vitro.

RESUMEN

Objective: To study the diterpenes in the roots of Rabdosia japonica var. glaucocalyx. Methods: The constituents of R. japonica var. glaucocalyx were separated and purified with chromatographic methods, and their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Results: Two compounds were isolated from the roots of R. japonica var. glaucocalyx, and they were identified as glaucocalyxoside (1) and inflexuside A (2). Conclusion: Compound 1 is a new abietane diterpene glycoside named glaucocalyxoside, and compound 2 is isolated from R. japonica var. glaucocalyx for the first time.

RESUMEN

Objective To explore the clinical and electrophysiologic features of anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor(NMDAR) encephalitis in children. Methods The clinical records and findings of electroencephalogram(EEG) of the anti-NMDAR encephalitis patients diagnosed in the Capital Institute of Pediatrics were reviewed and analyzed.Five patients with anti-NMDAR encephalitis were identified, including 4 boys and 1 girl, aged from 2 years and 6 months to 6 years and 8 months. Results No tumor was found in those patients.Four patients developed the symptoms of seizure at first, and suffered from consciousness disturbance and movement disorder later, while the other patient was found to be affected by language disorder at first. All patients were treated with methylprednisolone and intravenous immunoglobulin therapy, and plasma exchange and (or) CD20 monoclonal antibodies were used when the patient did not respond well to the treatment. With this immunotherapy used, the patients showed great improvement in cognitive, language and movement abilities, but 1 relapsed 9 months after discharge. All patients had abnormal electroencephalogram with diffusive slow waves, and some with focal spikes or sharp waves. After the patients recovered,EEG showed fewer slow waves, and even normal backgrounds. Conclusions Anti-NMDAR encephalitis can be found in children, even young boys may be affected by it without tumors. For those suffering from this disease, seizure and language disorder may be one of the initial symptoms, and movement disorder and consciousness alteration will occur later. In treating this disease, immunotherapy proves effective. There is a risk of disease relapse if the immune treatment doesn't sustain long enough.
