RESUMEN

In the context of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, Bacillus CalmetteGuérin (BCG), a tuberculosis (TB) vaccine, has been investigated for its potential to prevent COVID-19 with conflicting outcomes. Currently, over 50 clinical trials have been conducted to assess the effectiveness of BCG in preventing COVID-19, but the results have shown considerable variations. After scrutinizing the data, it was discovered that some trials had enrolled individuals with active TB, latent TB infection, or a history of TB. This finding raises concerns about the reliability and validity of the trial outcomes. In this study, we explore the potential consequences of including these participants in clinical trials, including impaired host immunity, immune exhaustion, and the potential masking of the BCG vaccine’s protective efficacy against COVID-19 by persistent mycobacterial infections. We also put forth several suggestions for future clinical trials. Our study underscores the criticality of excluding individuals with active or latent TB from clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of BCG in preventing COVID-19.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo analyze the clinicopathologic characteristics of well-differentiated hepatocellular carcinoma (WD-HCC), and to find clues for its pathologic diagnosis and differential diagnosis.

METHODSSeventy-three cases of WD-HCC were studied with clinical data analysis, gross and microscopic examination.

RESULTSAmong the 73 cases, the prevalence of HBV (+) and/or HCV (+) was 94.5% (69/73), liver cirrhosis was 80.8% (59/73), increased hepatic cell density was 95.9% (70/73), dilated and irregular hepatic sinus was 89.0% (65/73), prominent trabecularism was 89.0% (65/73), increased cytoplasmic eosinophilia or basophilia was 90.4% (66/73), glandular-like structure was 16.4% (12/73, and fatty degeneration was 42.4% (31/73) .

CONCLUSIONSThere are important clinicopathologic features associated with WD-HCC. These features are useful in the differential diagnosis of WD-HCC with dysplastic nodule (DN), focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) and hepatocellular adenoma.

RESUMEN

ObjectiveTo evaluate the factors implicated in the diagnosis and treatment of early gastric caner. Methods Fifty Patients early gastric caner with diagnosed from March 2004 to May 2006,were investigated in the study retrospectively.ResultsAll of the patients were diagnosed accurately by the gastroscopy, among which 2 had atrophic gastritis history for 6 or 10 years,respectively.Twenty-four masses were located in gastric pylorus,12 in gastic angular incisure,14 in gastric body.D2 radical mastectomy was performed in 41 cases, and D1 radical mastectomy in 9 cases. In 10 cases the diameter of tumors was <1 cm,17 cases 1 -2 cm,14 cases 2-3 cm,9 cases >3 cm.Lymph node involvements were observed in five cases ( 10% ).Follow data were available in 48 cases.Among them,3 died from local recurrence and metastasis at postoperative 10,12,19 months respectively. Conclusions Although endosopic mucosal resection or limited surgical resection is a reasonable treatment for some early gastric caner patients,D2 radical mastectomy is necessary for most early gastric caner patients.

RESUMEN

Objective To approach the expression and significance of CD30 in Hodgkin lymphoma cells which were transfected with mtr Ⅱ gene. Methods The CD30 expression of Hodgkin lymphoma cells in those transfected with mtr Ⅱ gene was analysed by immunohistochemical technique respectively. Results The CD30 expression rate of Hodgkin lymphoma cells which were transfected with mtr Ⅱ gene was higher than that of Hodgkin lymphoma cells which weren't transfected with mtrⅡ gene (P <0.01). Conclusion The mtr Ⅱ gene may be related to the malignant transformation of Hodgkin lymphoma.

RESUMEN

@#Objective To investigate the proliferative activities and significance of Hodgkin's disease cells which were transfected with mtr Ⅱ gene. Methods The ki67 and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression in Hodgkin's disease cells transfected with mtr Ⅱ gene were determined with immunohistochemistry. Results The ki67 and PCNA expression in cells transfected with mtr Ⅱ gene was more than that of cells without mtrⅡ gene transfected (P<0.05). Conclusion The proliferative activities of Hodgkin's disease cells transfected with mtr Ⅱ gene increased obviously, which may be related to the progress of Hodgkin's disease.
