RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE@#To assess the correlation of borderline fetal ventriculomegaly with genomic copy number variations (CNVs) and outcome of pregnancy.@*METHODS@#For 84 singleton pregnancies diagnosed with VM, chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) was carried out to detect the CNVs of the fetal genome. Outcome of the pregnancy and neonatal development were analyzed. The pregnant women were divided into mild group (10-12 mm), moderate group (12-15 mm) and severe group (>= 15 mm) based on the severity of fetal ventriculomegaly. The detection rate of pathogenic CNVs and pregnancy outcome were compared. Multivariate logistic regression was carried out to analyze the predictors for pregnancy outcome.@*RESULTS@#Respectively, 24, 28 and 32 fetuses were assigned into the mild, moderate and severe groups. CMA has detected 15 cases of chromosomal abnormalities, including 11 pathogenic CNVs and 4 abnormal karyotypes. Abnormal pregnancy outcomes were found in 20 fetuses, including 12 with hydrocephalus and 8 with chromosomal microdeletion syndromes. A significant difference was found in the detection rate of fetal pathogenic CNVs and abnormal pregnancy outcome among the three groups (P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the largest change of lateral ventricle width (OR = 1.868, 95%CI = 1.120-3.116) and the extent of lateral ventricle widening (OR = 1.571, 95%CI = 1.120-2.206) were the key factors affecting the outcome of pregnancy (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Borderline fetal VM is associated with the risk of pathogenic CNVs and adverse pregnancy outcome. A comprehensive examination is required after prenatal ultrasound diagnosis, which is conducive to prenatal consultation and prognostic evaluation of the fetus.

RESUMEN

The main duty of biobank is collecting,storing and managing biospecimen. The use of high-quality biospecimen is a key factor in the further development of translational medicine. To ensure utilizing limited and precious biospecimen more efficiently, and the accuracy,comparability and repeatability of research consequences,it is important to put a high premium on the quality control of biobank. Some countries have already paid attention to the establishment of the quality control system of biobank,however,the inter-national organizations have not reached an acknowledged consensus so far. This paper briefly reviews the quality control of operating procedure,biospecimen,clinical data and quality control report of the biobank.

RESUMEN

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the growth rhythm of preterm appropriate for gestational age (AGA) infants by investigating their physical catch-up growth characteristics.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Eighty-four preterm AGA newborns (44 males and 40 females) with gestational ages between 28-36 weeks were enrolled. The weight, length and head circumference were evaluated by Z score according to the criterions of actual and corrected ages.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The preterm infants had the catch-up growth in weight, length and head circumference in the first year of life. The growth velocity within the first three months was the highest. The velocity in the weight catch-up was higher than that in the length.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The fastest growing period is the early three month of life in preterm AGA infants. The catch-up growth in weight and length is unbalanced.</p>

RESUMEN

The objective of study was to investigate the in vitro suppressive effect of angelica polysaccharide (APS) on human cytomegalovirus-induced apoptosis via direct infection in CHRF-288-11 cells. HCMV AD169 directly infected CHRF-288-11 were cultured in vitro, APS in different doses were added on day 3 after the infection of virus. Cells of every group were collected at different time points. HCMV DNA of cells were detected by using polymerase chain reaction and the apoptotic cells were examined by using Hoechst staining, MTT assay, DNA fragmentation assay and flow cytometry. The results showed that the APS to some extent inhibited the apoptosis of CHRF cells infected by HCMV in vitro in a dose-dependent manner. The expression of HCMV IEA in CHRF-288-11 cells was found by PCR amplification. Morphology observation, flow cytometry assay and DNA fragmentation assay revealed the existence of apoptosis. With the dose decrease of APS added to the infected CHRF cells, the percentage of apoptotic cells increased. It is concluded that the HCMV AD169 can infect CHRF cells directly in vitro and decrease cell viability. HCMV AD169 infection increases the apoptosis of CHRF cells in time-dependent manner. When APS was added to the CHRF cells infected by HCMV AD169 in vitro, the viability of CHRF cells increase, which indicated that APS to some extent protects the CHRF cells infected by HCMV. APS suppresses the cytomegalovirus-induced apoptosis in CHRF cells directly infected in vitro in dose-dependent manner.
