Hypersensitivity reaction in the lungs of guinea pigs due to intratracheal potassium dichromate exposure

Guinea pigs sensitized with potassium dichromate were challenged by intratracheal injection of the chromium compound. Histological examination of lung tissue after 16[th] and 1,2,3,7 and 14 days correlated with manifestations of delayed type hypersensitivity

Chromium concentrations in Iraqi tanneries

Chromium levels has been detected in the air and different waters of the Iraqi tanneries as well as in the plasma and the urine of the exposed workers. No significant increase in the levels of chromium were observed in the plasma and urine of exposed workers compared to the controls. These levels were correlated with the levels of chromium in the air and waters. The results indicated minimal absorption of chromium through the skin and the lungs of exposed workers
