The role of disseminated intravascular coagulation in the pathogensis of human cerebral malaria

Disseminated intravascular coagulation parameters were evaluated in twenty cerebral malaria and twenty non-cerebral malaria patients. Majority of the patients with severe p. falciparum malaria have mild form of DIC and a few patients have moderate or severe degree of DIC. There was no statistically significent difference in paramenters of DIC between cerebral and non-cerebral malaria patients.
