RESUMEN

This study compared stress between second and third year medical students, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital in academic year 1988-89. The subjects consisted of 192 second year and 177 third year medical students. Data collection was done by asking subjects to complete 2 questionnaires: Health Opinion Survey (HOS) and Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90). The questionnaires were completed by 138 second year and 148 third year medical students. The results indicated that there was a statistically significant difference in the 2nd and 3rd year medical students who graduated by Conventional Method and Qualification Examination (types of graduation from high school). However it was found that the mean score of the 2nd year students who graduated by Conventional Method was higher than by Qualification Examination. There was no statistically significant difference in sex, age and methods of university entrance.
