RESUMEN

PURPOSE@#Mannitol is one of the first-line drugs for reducing cerebral edema through increasing the extracellular osmotic pressure. However, long-term administration of mannitol in the treatment of cerebral edema triggers damage to neurons and astrocytes. Given that neural stem cell (NSC) is a subpopulation of main regenerative cells in the central nervous system after injury, the effect of mannitol on NSC is still elusive. The present study aims to elucidate the role of mannitol in NSC proliferation.@*METHODS@#C57 mice were derived from the animal house of Zunyi Medical University. A total of 15 pregnant mice were employed for the purpose of isolating NSCs in this investigation. Initially, mouse primary NSCs were isolated from the embryonic cortex of mice and subsequently identified through immunofluorescence staining. In order to investigate the impact of mannitol on NSC proliferation, both cell counting kit-8 assays and neurospheres formation assays were conducted. The in vitro effects of mannitol were examined at various doses and time points. In order to elucidate the role of Aquaporin 4 (AQP4) in the suppressive effect of mannitol on NSC proliferation, various assays including reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, western blotting, and immunocytochemistry were conducted on control and mannitol-treated groups. Additionally, the phosphorylated p38 (p-p38) was examined to explore the potential mechanism underlying the inhibitory effect of mannitol on NSC proliferation. Finally, to further confirm the involvement of the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase-dependent (MAPK) signaling pathway in the observed inhibition of NSC proliferation by mannitol, SB203580 was employed. All data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 software (SPSS, Inc., Chicago, IL). The statistical analysis among multiple comparisons was performed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Turkey's post hoc test in case of the data following a normal distribution using a Shapiro-Wilk normality test. Comparisons between 2 groups were determined using Student's t-test, if the data exhibited a normal distribution using a Shapiro-Wilk normality test. Meanwhile, data were shown as median and interquartile range and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test, if the data failed the normality test. A p < 0.05 was considered as significant difference.@*RESULTS@#Primary NSC were isolated from the mice, and the characteristics were identified using immunostaining analysis. Thereafter, the results indicated that mannitol held the capability of inhibiting NSC proliferation in a dose-dependent and time-dependent manner using cell counting kit-8, neurospheres formation, and immunostaining of Nestin and Ki67 assays. During the process of mannitol suppressing NSC proliferation, the expression of AQP4 mRNA and protein was downregulated, while the gene expression of p-p38 was elevated by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, immunostaining, and western blotting assays. Subsequently, the administration of SB203580, one of the p38 MAPK signaling pathway inhibitors, partially abrogated this inhibitory effect resulting from mannitol, supporting the fact that the p38 MAPK signaling pathway participated in curbing NSC proliferation induced by mannitol.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Mannitol inhibits NSC proliferation through downregulating AQP4, while upregulating the expression of p-p38 MAPK.

RESUMEN

AIM:To analyze the correlation between serum nesfatin-1, apelin and heme oxygenase-1(HO-1)levels and the severity of diabetic retinopathy(DR).METHODS:Totally 100 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)who were admitted to the hospital from September 2020 to September 2022 were selected. They were divided into non-DR(NDR)group(35 cases), nonproliferative DR(NPDR)group(33 cases)and proliferative DR(PDR)group(32 cases)according to the condition of fundus lesions. Another 30 healthy individuals who received health check-ups in the hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. Serum nesfatin-1, apelin and HO-1 levels in each group were detected, and panretinal ischemia index(ISI)was evaluated.RESULTS:Serum nesfatin-1 and HO-1 levels in the T2DM patients were lower, and apelin level was higher as compared with the control group. The levels of nesfatin-1 and HO-1 in the PDR group were the lowest, while the apelin level was the highest. Panretinal ISI in the PDR group was higher than that in the NPDR group(4.56±0.57 vs. 2.05±0.29, P<0.05). Correlation analysis found that serum nesfatin-1 and HO-1 levels were negatively correlated with panretinal ISI in patients with DR, while apelin level was positively correlated with panretinal ISI. The receiver operator characteristic(ROC)curve analysis found that the areas under the curves of serum nesfatin-1, apelin and HO-1 for predicting PDR were 0.842, 0.833 and 0.807 respectively.CONCLUSION:Serum nesfatin-1, apelin and HO-1 levels are closely related to the severity of DR. Dynamic monitoring of serum nesfatin-1, apelin and HO-1 levels is important for the early detection of PDR.

RESUMEN

Wenzhou has improved its environmental quality because of comprehensive environmental remediation; nevertheless, the semen quality of infertile males remains unclear. This study determined whether better environmental quality improved semen quality in this region. We recorded semen quality data from 22 962 infertile males from January 2014 to November 2019 at the Center for Reproductive Health of The First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University (Wenzhou, China). Patients were predominantly 30-35 years old (33.1%) and workers (82.0%), with high school education or lower (77.6%); more than a half of the patients (52.6%) were Wenzhou household registration; and most patients (77.5%) had abnormal semen quality. Patients who were older than 40 years and workers, and those with Wenzhou household registration, had significantly worse semen quality (all P < 0.05). From 2014 to 2019, progressive sperm motility, total sperm motility, and semen volume showed increasing linear trends in all patients (P = 0.021, 0.030, and 0.005, respectively), yet normal sperm morphology showed a linearly decreasing trend (P = 0.046). Sensitivity analyses for subgroups yielded similar results. In conclusion, the improvement of environmental quality and better function of the accessory glands are associated with progressive sperm motility, total sperm motility, and semen volume. Normal sperm morphology is influenced by occupational exposures and personal lifestyle and does not improve with environmental quality.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE@#To analyze the distribution and drug resistance of pathogens in oral mucositis associated with chemotherapy in hospitalized patients with malignant hematopathy, so as to provide scientific evidences for rational selection of antibiotics and infection prevention and control.@*METHODS@#From July 2020 to June 2022, 167 patients with malignant hematopathy were treated with chemical drugs in the Department of Hematology, Hainan Hospital, and secretions from oral mucosal infected wounds were collected. VITEK2 COMPECT automatic microbial identification system (BioMerieux, France) and bacterial susceptibility card (BioMerieux) were used for bacterial identification and drug susceptibility tests.@*RESULTS@#A total of 352 strains of pathogens were isolated from 167 patients, among which 220 strains of Gram-positive bacteria, 118 strains of Gram-negative bacteria and 14 strains of fungi, accounted for 62.50%, 33.52% and 3.98%, respectively. The Gram-positive bacteria was mainly Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, while Gram-negative bacteria was mainly Klebsiella and Proteus. The resistance of main Gram-positive bacteria to vancomycin, ciprofloxacin and gentamicin was low, and the resistance to penicillin, cefuroxime, ampicillin, cefotaxime, erythromycin and levofloxacin was high. The main Gram-negative bacteria had low resistance to gentamicin, imipenem and penicillin, but high resistance to levofloxacin, cefotaxime, cefuroxime, ampicillin and vancomycin. The clinical data of oral mucositis patients with oral ulcer (severe) and without oral ulcer (mild) were compared, and it was found that there were statistically significant differences in poor oral hygiene, diabetes, sleep duration less than 8 hours per night between two groups (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Gram-positive bacteria is the main pathogen of oral mucositis in patients with malignant hematopathy after chemotherapy. It is sensitive to glycopeptide antibiotics and aminoglycosides antibiotics. Poor oral hygiene, diabetes and sleep duration less than 8 hours per night are risk factors for oral mucositis with oral ulcer (severe).

RESUMEN

Functional membrane microdomains (FMMs) that are mainly composed of scaffold proteins and polyisoprenoids play important roles in diverse cellular physiological processes in bacteria. The aim of this study was to identify the correlation between MK-7 and FMMs and then regulate the MK-7 biosynthesis through FMMs. Firstly, the relationship between FMMs and MK-7 on the cell membrane was determined by fluorescent labeling. Secondly, we demonstrated that MK-7 is a key polyisoprenoid component of FMMs by analyzing the changes in the content of MK-7 on cell membrane and the changes in the membrane order before and after destroying the integrity of FMMs. Subsequently, the subcellular localization of some key enzymes in MK-7 synthesis was explored by visual analysis, and the intracellular free pathway enzymes Fni, IspA, HepT and YuxO were localized to FMMs through FloA to achieve the compartmentalization of MK-7 synthesis pathway. Finally, a high MK-7 production strain BS3AT was successfully obtained. The production of MK-7 reached 300.3 mg/L in shake flask and 464.2 mg/L in 3 L fermenter.

RESUMEN

Bacillus subtilis is recognized as a generally-regarded-as-safe strain, and has been widely used in the biosynthesis of high value-added products, including N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuAc) which is widely used as a nutraceutical and a pharmaceutical intermediate. Biosensors responding to target products are widely used in dynamic regulation and high-throughput screening in metabolic engineering to improve the efficiency of biosynthesis. However, B. subtilis lacks biosensors that can efficiently respond to NeuAc. This study first tested and optimized the transport capacity of NeuAc transporters, and obtained a series of strains with different transport capacities for testing NeuAc-responsive biosensors. Subsequently, the binding site sequence of Bbr_NanR responding to NeuAc was inserted into different sites of the constitutive promoter of B. subtilis, and active hybrid promoters were obtained. Next, by introducing and optimizing the expression of Bbr_NanR in B. subtilis with NeuAc transport capacity, we obtained an NeuAc-responsive biosensor with wide dynamic range and higher activation fold. Among them, P535-N2 can sensitively respond to changes in intracellular NeuAc concentration, with the largest dynamic range (180-20 245) AU/OD. P566-N2 shows a 122-fold of activation, which is 2 times of the reported NeuAc-responsive biosensor in B. subtilis. The NeuAc-responsive biosensor developed in this study can be used to screen enzyme mutants and B. subtilis strains with high NeuAc production efficiency, providing an efficient and sensitive analysis and regulation tool for biosynthesis of NeuAc in B. subtilis.

RESUMEN

Objective: To examine the radiomics model based on high-resolution T2WI and diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) in predicting microsatellite stability in patients with stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ rectal cancer. Methods: From February 2016 to October 2020, 175 patients with stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ rectal cancer who met the inclusion criteria were retrospectively collected. There were 119 males and 56 females, aged (63.9±9.4) years (range: 37 to 85 years), including 152 patients with microsatellite stability and 23 patients with microsatellite instability. All patients were randomly divided into the training group (n=123) and the validation group (n=52) with a ratio of 7∶3. The region of interest was labeled on the T2WI and DWI images of each patient using the ITK-SNAP software, and PyRadiomics was used to extract seven kinds of radiomics features. After removing redundant features and normalizing features, the least absolute shrinkage and selection operation were used for feature selection. One clinical model, three radiomics models and one clinical-radiomics model were constructed in the training group based on a support vector machine. The area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy were used to evaluate the performance of the models in the verification group. Results: Three clinical features (age, degree of tumor differentiation, and distance from the lower edge of the tumor to the anal edge) and six radiomics features (two DWI-related features and four T2WI-related features) most related to microsatellite status of rectal cancer patients were selected. The AUC of the clinical-radiomics model in the training group was 0.95. In the validation group, the AUC was 0.81, better than the clinical model (0.68, Z=0.71, P=0.04), and equivalent to the T2WI+DWI model (0.82, Z=0.21, P=0.83). Conclusions: Radiomic features based on preoperative T2WI and DWI were related to microsatellite stability in patients with stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ rectal cancer and showed a high classification efficiency. The model based on the features provided a noninvasive and convenient tool for preoperative determination of microsatellite stability in rectal cancer patients.

RESUMEN

Because the classification system of radical surgery for rectal cancer has not been established, it is impossible to select the appropriate surgical method according to the clinical stage of the tumor. In this paper, we explained the theory of " four fasciae and three spaces " of pelvic membrane anatomy and then combined this theory with the membrane anatomical basis of Querleu-Morrow classification for radical cervical cancer resection. Based on this theory and the membrane anatomy of Querleu-Morrow classification of radical cervical cancer resection, we proposed a new classification system of radical rectal cancer surgery based on membrane anatomy according to the lateral lymph node dissection range of the rectum. This system classifies the surgery into four types (ABCD) and defines corresponding subtypes based on whether the autonomic nerve was preserved. Among them, type A surgery is total mesorectal excision (TME) with urogenital fascia preservation, type B surgery is classical TME, type C surgery is extended TME, and type D surgery is lateral extended resection. This classification system unifies the anatomical terminology of the pelvic membrane, validates the feasibility of using the " four fasciae and three fascial spaces " theory to classify rectal cancer surgery, and lays the theoretical foundation for the future development of a unified and standardized classification of radical pelvic tumor surgery.

RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate the changes of T lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and its clinical significance. Methods:The clinical data of 99 DLBCL patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University from January 2022 to January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. T lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood before and after treatment were detected by using flow cytometry. According to the disease status at the time of blood collection and detection, the patients were divided into the newly-diagnosed DLBCL group (28 cases), and the newly-treated remission DLBCL group (71 cases); and 40 healthy volunteers undergoing the physical examination during the same period were selected as the healthy control group. The proportion and absolute count differences of T lymphocytes and the related subsets in 3 groups were compared. Besides, the correlation among T lymphocyte subsets, the correlation of each subset with international prognostic index (IPI) score and treatment response in newly-diagnosed DLBCL patients were further analyzed. Results:The proportion of CD3 + T cells in newly-diagnosed DLBCL group was decreased compared with that in the healthy control group [(58±14)% vs. (67±7)%, P < 0.05]. The absolute count of CD3 + T cells in both newly-diagnosed group and the newly-treated remission group was reduced compared with that in the healthy control group [(875±483) /μl and (808±553) /μl vs. (1 374±279) /μl, P < 0.001]. The absolute count of CD4 + and CD8 + T cells in newly-diagnosed group was decreased compared with that in the healthy control group [(478±313) /μl vs. (695±154) /μl, (316±181) /μl vs. (525±193) /μl, all P < 0.001]. Both the proportion and absolute count of CD4 + T cells in the newly-treated remission DLBCL group were decreased compared with those in the newly-diagnosed DLBCL group and the healthy control group [(40±14)% vs. (53±14)% and (51±9)%, (313±247) /μl vs. (478±313) /μl and (695±154) /μl, all P < 0.05]. The porportion of CD8 + T cells was increased compared with that in the other two groups [(51±15)% vs. (37±12)% and (38±9)%, all P < 0.001]. Compared with the healthy control group, the effect/memory subsets proportion of regulatory T cell (Treg) and conventional T cell (Tcon) were increased in both newly-diagnosed DLBCL group and the newly-treated remission DLBCL group [(79±16)% and (84±12)% vs. (71±11)%,(72±16)% and (76±14)% vs. (62±13)%, all P < 0.05], and the proportion of CD127 + memory Tcon and CD8 + T cell subsets was reduced [(73±14)% and (66±20)% vs. (85±8)%,(39±15)% and (25±21)% vs. (62±16)%, all P < 0.05]. In newly-diagnosed DLBCL group, the absolute counts of CD3 + T and CD4 + T cells were negatively correlated with the proportion of effector Treg ( r = -0.379, P = 0.049; r = -0.384, P = 0.040, respectively). IPI score of DLBCL patients was correlated with the proportion of CD8 + T cells ( Eta2 = 0.15, P = 0.038). The proportion of CD127 + memory Tcon in patients with non-complete remission was increased compared with that in patients with complete remission after treatment ( P = 0.020). Conclusions:The proportion and absolute count of T lymphocyte cells in peripheral blood of newly-diagnosed DLBCL patients is decreased, and the differentiation state of T lymphocyte cells shows change trend, which is related to the clinical characteristics and treatment response of DLBCL patients. Even if DLBCL patients have achieved treatment remission, T lymphocyte cells are not completely return to the normal.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE@#Xiaotan Sanjie recipe (XTSJ), a Chinese herbal compound medicine, exerts a significant inhibitory effect on gastric cancer (GC) metastasis. This work investigated the mechanism underlying the XTSJ-mediated inhibition of GC metastasis.@*METHODS@#The effect of XTSJ on GC metastasis and the associated mechanism were investigated in vitro, using GC cell lines, and in vivo, using a GC mouse model, by focusing on the expression of Glc-N-Ac-transferase V (GnT-V; encoded by MGAT5).@*RESULTS@#The migration and invasion ability of GC cells decreased significantly after XTSJ administration, which confirmed the efficacy of XTSJ in treating GC in vitro. XTSJ increased the accumulation of E-cadherin at junctions between GC cells, which was reversed by MGAT5 overexpression. XTSJ administration and MGAT5 knockdown alleviated the structural abnormality of the cell-cell junctions, while MGAT5 overexpression had the opposite effect. MGAT5 knockdown and XTSJ treatment also significantly increased the accumulation of proteins associated with the E-cadherin-mediated adherens junction complex. Furthermore, the expression of MGAT5 was significantly lower in the lungs of BGC-823-MGAT5 + XTSJ mice than in those of BGC-823-MGAT5 + solvent mice, indicating that the ability of gastric tumors to metastasize to the lung was decreased in vivo following XTSJ treatment.@*CONCLUSION@#XTSJ prevented GC metastasis by inhibiting the GnT-V-mediated E-cadherin glycosylation and promoting the E-cadherin accumulation at cell-cell junctions. RESUMEN

Objective The joint latent class model(JLCM)was applied to study the reversion of mild cognitive impairment(MCI)to normal cognition(NC),providing a methodology reference for the longitudinal study of chronic diseases. Methods The JLCM model consisted of three sub-models:the latent class sub-model adopted multi-class logistic regression to estimate the latent classes;the longitudinal process sub-model adopted linear mixed model to describe the longitudinal cognitive measurement;and the survival process sub-model adopted proportional risk model to fit the cognitive process.Goodness of fit was based on information criterion, posterior classification, comparison between predicted value and observed value and conditional independence assumption. Results The MCI population was divided into two latent classes based on the JLCM model, including 783(92.88%)and 60(7.12%),respectively.The latent class sub-model showed that gender, marital status,APOE4 and FAQ had statistical significance for the determination of latent classes. The longitudinal process sub-model showed male(β=-0.685,95%CI:-1.144,-0.226),being single(β=0.743,95%CI:0.200,1.286),not carrying APOE4(β=-1.201,95%CI:-1.636,-0.766)and without functional impairment(β=-1.868,95%CI:-2.095,-1.641)had higher MMSE scores. The survival process sub-model showed that high education level(HR=1.264,95%CI:1.134,1.395),being single(HR=1.593,95%CI:1.286,1.899)and not carrying APOE4(HR=0.453,95%CI:0.043,0.862)were protective factors for reversion to NC in MCI patients. Conclusion JLCM model has good application value in the study of chronic diseases such as cognitive impairment.

Objective:To investigate the malignant potential of histopathological class B3 and B5a lesions by ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy (CNB).Methods:Retrospective analysis of the histopathological results of 712 breast lesions that successively underwent CNB process and surgical resection in the Shanghai General Hospital from January 2018 to December 2022, of which 47 lesions were reported as class B3 and 70 lesions as class B5a.Results:CNB identified 47 category B3 lesions, comprising 19 cases of atypical ductal hyperplasia, 17 papillary lesions, 8 phyllodes tumors, and 3 complex sclerosing lesions. Of these cases, surgical pathology was in full agreement with CNB pathology in 27 instances, indicating a concordance rate of 57.4% (27/47) and an inconsistency rate of 42.6% (20/47). Out of the 20 inconsistent cases, 70.0% (14/20) were upgraded based on the findings from the surgical pathology.Specifically, 4 cases of atypical ductal hyperplasia and 2 cases of intraductal papilloma were upgraded to invasive breast cancer (B5b) after surgery. Among the 4 cases with puncture pathology indicating atypical ductal hyperplasia and one complex sclerosing lesion, these five lesions were upgraded to ductal carcinoma in situ (B5a) after surgery. Two puncture pathologies were diagnosed as atypical ductal hyperplasia, and these were upgraded to ductal carcinoma in situ with microinvasion (B5b) after surgery. One puncture pathology indicated a borderline phyllodes tumor, and this was upgraded to malignant phyllodes tumor (B5b) after surgery. And 30.0% (6/20) resulted in downgrade after surgery, specifically 4 cases of atypical ductal hyperplasia, which were downgraded to breast adenopathy (B2). Of these, 1 puncture pathology was identified as atypical ductal hyperplasia and one as a borderline phyllodes tumor, which were both downgraded to fibroadenoma (B2). Seventy lesions were diagnosed as B5a lesions by CNB pathology, with 28 of them showing complete concurrence with the surgical pathology, a concordance rate of 40.0% (28/70), and an inconsistency rate of 60.0% (42/70). Of the 42 cases with discrepancies, all 42 were upgraded, yielding an upgrading rate of 100% (42/42). Of these, 21 were upgraded to ductal carcinoma in situ with microinvasion (B5b) and 21 to invasive breast cancer (B5b).Conclusions:Lesions with CNB pathology in categories B3 and B5a have a high rate of postoperative escalation. B3 and B5a lesions should be treated with considerable care, especially atypical ductal hyperplasia, which should be surgically resected, and CNB examination should be performed twice if necessary.

RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate the efficacy of venetoclax-based combined regimen in treatment of adult patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).Methods:The data of 50 adult AML (non-acute promyelocytic leukemia) who received venetoclax-based combined regimen in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University, Dongguan People's Hospital, the First Hospital of Longyan City, Jieyang People's Hospital from December 2018 to May 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Different doses venetoclax combined with demethylation drugs or low-dose chemotherapy regimen were used to analyze the therapeutic efficacy. The related factors influencing efficacy were analyzed by using logistic regression. Results:The composite complete remission (CR) rate of 50 AML patients was 62.0% (31/50), the overall response rate (ORR) was 76.0% (38/50); 28 patients achieved effectiveness [CR and partial remission (PR)] after the first cycle and could achieve effectiveness by 3 courses of treatment at the latest. Among 50 patients, 28 cases were newly diagnosed AML, the composite CR rate was 60.8% (17/28), ORR was 78.6% (22/28); 22 cases were recurrent and relapsed, the composite CR rate was 63.6% (14/22), ORR was 72.7% (16/22); and there was no statistically significant difference of ORR between the both groups ( χ2 = 0.23, P = 0.743). Logistic regression multivariate analysis showed age was the only independent influencing factor for the treatment effectiveness ( OR = 8.451, 95% CI 1.306-54.697, P = 0.025). The median duration time of patients receiving venetoclax treatment regimen was 4.5 months (1.1-15.0 months); 16 cases who had treatment effectiveness finally relapsed, the median time of maintaining effectiveness was 5 months (1.1-11.0 months). Additionally, the common treatment-related adverse reactions included bone marrow suppression after treatment, followed by some gastrointestinal reactions like nausea, vomiting and stomachache. In addition, no patient stopped medication for more than 1 week due to bone marrow suppression related complications. Conclusion:Venetoclax-based combined regimen shows a good short-term efficacy in treatment of AML. It is also effective and tolerable for elderly patients receiving reduced dose therapy.

RESUMEN

Objective@#: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of an overlapped stenting-assisted coiling technique in treating vertebral artery dissecting aneurysm (VADA) via Low-profile Visualized Intraluminal Support (LVIS) stent-within-Neuroform EZ stent. @*Methods@#: From January 2017 to June 2019, 18 consecutive patients with VADAs (ruptured : unruptured=5 : 13) were treated with the overlapping stents assisted-coiling technique in our center. The overlapping manner was a Neuroform EZ stent being deployed first, followed by LVIS stents placement using the ‘shelf’ technique. The patients’ clinical characteristics, technical feasibility and safety, and immediate and follow-up angiographic results were retrospectively reviewed. @*Results@#: Seventeen (94.4%) procedures were technically successful with an exact deployment of the stents and patent parent or perforator arteries. The immediate angiographies after procedure confirmed Raymond class I, II, and III occlusion of VADAs were in 12 (66.7%), two (11.1%), and four cases (22.2%), respectively. Post-procedural complications developed in one patient (5.6%) with minor brainstem infarctions, which resulted from an in-stent thrombosis during the procedure. Angiographic follow-up at 5.7 months (range 3 to 9 months) demonstrated Raymond class I and II occlusion were in all cases (100%). The modified Rankin Scale scores at 21.3 months (range 15 to 42 months) 0–2 in 17 cases (94.4%) and three in one case (5.6%). @*Conclusion@#: Overlapping stents via LVIS stent-within-Neuroform EZ stent combined with coiling is safe and effective for patients with VADA in the midterm results.

RESUMEN

Objective: To compare the short-term and long-term outcomes between robotic-assisted and laparoscopic-assisted radical right hemicolectomy in patients with adenocarcinoma of the right colon. Methods: Retrospective review of a prospectively collected database identified 288 right colon cancer patients who underwent either robotic-assisted (n=57) or laparoscopic-assisted right hemicolectomy (n=231) between October 2014 and October 2020 at Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University. There were 161 males and 127 females, aging (60.3±12.8) years (range: 17 to 86 years). After propensity score matching as 1∶4 between robotic-assisted and laparoscopic-assisted right hemicolectomy, there were 56 cases in robotic group and 176 cases in laparoscipic group. Perioperative outcomes and overall survival were compared between the two groups using t test, Wilcoxon rank sum test, χ2 test, Fisher exact test, Kaplan-Meier method and Log-rank test, respectively. Results: The total operative time was similar between the robotic and laparoscopic group ((206.9±60.7) minutes vs. (219.9±56.3) minutes, t=-1.477, P=0.141). Intraoperative bleeding was less in the robotic group (50 (20) ml vs. 50 (50) ml, Z=-4.591, P<0.01), while the number of lymph nodes retrieved was significantly higher (36.0±10.0 vs. 29.0±10.1, t=4.491, P<0.01). Patients in robotic group experienced significantly shorter hospital stay, shorter time to first flatus, and defecation (t: -2.888, -2.946, -2.328, all P<0.05). Moreover, the overall peri-operative complication rate was similar between robotic and laparoscopic group (17.9% vs. 22.7%, χ²=0.596,P=0.465). The 3-year overall survival were 92.9% and 87.9% respectively and the 3-year disease-free survival rates were 83.1% and 82.6% with no statistical significance between the robotic and laparoscopic group (P>0.05). Conclusions: Compared to laparoscopic-assisted right hemicolectomy, robot-assisted right hemicolectomy could improve some short-term clinical outcomes. The two procedures are both achieving comparable survival.

RESUMEN

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) refer to musculoskeletal disorders caused by work or work as the main cause, which are characterized by high prevalence and heavy burden of disease as a global problem. The classification and catalog of occupational diseases is of great significance for guiding the prevention and control of occupational diseases and safeguarding the rights and interests of workers. The types of WMSDs included in the list of occupational diseases vary greatly from country to country, and the regulations on specific pathogenic factors are also inconsistent. By sorting out and analyzing the lists and characteristics of WMSDs at home and abroad, and using the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10) in occupational health to standardize of WMSDs in various countries, which would lay the foundation for future multi-country WMSDs occupational health registration and disease burden research, and provide a reference for China to revise the WMSDs list.
