RESUMEN

ObjectiveTo analyze the effect of moderate intensity aerobic combined with low intensity resistance exercise on old patients with coronary heart disease and hypertension. MethodsFrom November, 2021 to May, 2022, 16 patients with coronary heart disease and hypertension in Wuhan Donghu Hospital were divided into control group (n = 8) and experimental group (n = 8). Based on the World Health Organization Family of International Classification (WHO-FICs), the exercise intervention program was constructed. The control group accepted routine treatment, and the experimental group accepted moderate intensity aerobic combined with low intensity resistance exercise in addition, for eight weeks. They were measured lung function and cardiac function with cardiopulmonary exercise test system, and assessed with Timed 'Up and Go' Test, 6-Minute Walk Distance, 2-Minute Step Test, 30-Second Sit to Stand Test and grip strength before and after intervention. ResultsThe vital capacity, forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in the first second, forced expiratory volume in the one second as percentage of predicted volume, peak expiratory flow and maximal voluntary ventilation improved in the experimental after intervention (|t| > 2.391, P < 0.05), and the vital capacity, force vital capacity and maximal voluntary ventilation were more in the experimental group than in the control group (|t| > 2.207, P < 0.05). Peak oxygen uptake, anaerobic subthreshold oxygen uptake, metabolic equivalents, oxygen pulse, maximum work load and exercise load time improved in the experimental group after intervention (|t| > 2.823, P < 0.05), and they all were better in the experimental group than in the control group (|t| > 2.295, P < 0.05). Systolic blood pressure improved in both the groups (|t| > 4.608, P < 0.01), and diastolic blood pressure improved in the experimental group (t = 5.964, P < 0.01); while systolic blood pressure was less in the experimental group than in the control group (t = -3.654, P < 0.01). The performances of Timed 'Up and Go' Test, 6-Minute Walk Distance, 2-Minute Step Test, 30-Second Sit to Stand Test and grip strength improved in the experimental group after intervention (|t| > 2.996, P < 0.05), and all the performances were better in the experimental group than in the control group (|t| > 2.220, P < 0.05). ConclusionThe moderate intensity aerobic combined with low resistance exercise developed based on WHO-FICs can improve the cardiac function, lung function, cardiac load and motor function of old patients with coronary heart disease and hypertension.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE@#To evaluate the impact of five different tooth preparation designs on the marginal and internal fit discrepancies of cobalt-chromium (CoCr) crowns produced by computer-aided designing (CAD) and selective laser melting (SLM) processes. @*MATERIALS AND METHODS@#Five preparation data were constructed, after which design crowns were obtained. Actual crowns were fabricated using an SLM process. After the data of actual crowns were obtained with structural light scanning, intaglio surfaces of the design crown and actual crown were virtually superimposed on the preparation. The fit-discrepancies were displayed with colors, while the root means square was calculated and analyzed with one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Tukey’s test or Kruskal-Wallis test (α =.05). @*RESULTS@#The marginal or internal color-coded images in the five design groups were not identical. The shoulder-lip and sharp line angle groups in the CAD or SLM process had larger marginal or internal fit discrepancies compared to other groups (P < .05). In the CAD process, the mean marginal and internal fit discrepancies were 10.0 to 24.2 µm and 29.6 to 31.4 µm, respectively. After the CAD and SLM processes, the mean marginal and internal fit discrepancies were 18.4 to 40.9 µm and 39.1 to 47.1 µm, respectively. The SLM process itself resulted in a positive increase of the marginal (6.0 – 16.7 µm) and internal (9.0 – 15.7 µm) fit discrepancies. @*CONCLUSION@#The CAD and SLM processes affected the fit of CoCr crowns and varied based on the preparation designs. Typically, the shoulder-lip and sharp line angle designs had a more significant effect on crown fit. However, the differences between the design groups were relatively small, especially when compared to fit discrepancies observed clinically.

RESUMEN

Psoriasis is a common, chronic autoimmune/inflammatory disease directed by abnormal activation of skin immune system. It is characterized by erythematous plaques and slivery scales in the patients'lesional sites.Dendritic cells, macrophages, gamma delta T cells and group 3 innate lymphocytes are great contributors to the progress of the disease,as they are the main source of proin-flammatory cytokines like TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-6,IFN-α,IL-23 and IL-17.Particularly,as the initiator of the inflammation,DCs are indispensable of the progress. There are different subpopulations of dendritic cells in the skin,in this review,we are trying to elaborate their unique location and function based on the published articles.

RESUMEN

Objective To understand the changes of skin lesions in population exposed to arsenic through drinking-water in Inner Mongolia after changing water source for 12 years, and to evaluate the long-term harmful effects and the delayed injury to human body due to arsenic exposure and the effect of changing water. Methods The stratified random cluster sampling investigation objects (data derived from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Comprehensive Center for Disease Control and Prevention) of the arsenic exposure area before water reform (2004) as the foundation,in 2017,we selected three administrative villages (changed water in 2005) in Bayan Nur City of Inner Mongolia as survey sites. The objects of this study were residents who had been living in the survey site and were eligible for previous survey (n =80,35 males and 45 females). To compare the skin damage of the residents exposed to arsenic before and after the water changed, the water samples of the survey objects were measured arsenic content.According to the content of water arsenic, the respondents were divided into low, medium and high exposure groups (10-,150-,≥300 μg/L),to analyze clinical classification in skin damage before and after changing water. Results The water arsenic content after changing [1.42 (0.18-33.45) μg/L] was lower than those before the changes [238.20 (14.56-824.70) μg/L,Z =-8.34,P < 0.05].A total of 63 persons with skin keratinization,7 persons with hyperpigmentation and 19 persons with depigmentation were identified after the changes of drinking water source, while 38,3 and 18 persons were respectively found before the changes. The detection rate of skin keratinization after water changes was significantly higher than that before water changes [78.8% (63/80) vs 47.5% (38/80),x2 =16.78,P <0.05].According to the clinical classification of skin damage,23 patients were normal,44 patients were suspicious,10 patients were mild, and 3 patients were moderate or severe after the water changes, compared with those before the water changes (38,18,6 and 18 persons were respectively found),the clinical fractional suspicious detection rate of skin damage in the arsenic exposed population increased, and the medium-severe detection rate decreased, and the differences were statistically significant (x2 =17.80,12.33,P < 0.05).The detection rate of the clinical score of moderate-severe skin damage in men was significantly decreased, and the difference was statistically significant (x2 =7.65,P < 0.05).The normal detection rate of female skin lesions was reduced, and the rate of suspected detection was increased (x2 =5.48,7.65,P < 0.05).In the high-and medium-dose groups,41.9% (13/31) and 42.9%(12/28) of the arsenic exposure population had a reduced clinical classification of skin damage. The ratios of clinical classification severity of skin damage in the high-,medium-and low-dose groups were 25.8% (8/31),25.0% (7/28),and 42.9% (9/21).The differences were statistical significantly by linear trend chi-square test (x2 =12.96,P < 0.05).Conclusions The skin lesions exposed to arsenic could be effectively improved after changing water. But the skin lesions still appear in some cases due to long-term chronic arsenic exposure. The long-term effects caused by arsenic should be explored persistently.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) labeling technology is a classic noninvasive tracing method, which has been widely used in the stem cell transplantation. Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are currently one of the most promising seed cells for cell transplantation. Whether SPIO labeling can also be used to noninvasively trace induced pluripotent stem cells is rarely reported, and concern has been raised about whether SPIO markedly impacts the differentiation of iPSCs. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of SPIO labeling on the differentiation of iPSCs in vitro. METHODS: Rat fibroblasts were isolated and cultured. Efficient recombinant vector and plasmids that were packaged by virus and contained target genes (Oct4, Sox2, Klf4 and c-Myc) were transfected into 293T cells for virus packaging and production. The packaging lentiviral vectors that contained target genes infected rat fibroblasts to obtain iPSCs. SPIO-labeled (experimental) or unlabeled (control) iPSCs were subjected to neural induction and differentiation. Prussian blue staining and transmission electron microscope observation were performed for SPIO-labeled iPSCs. Immunohistochemical method was used to detect neuron-specific enolase expression after induced differentiation. Flow cytometry was used to detect the proportion of neurons and glial cells differentiated from iPSCs. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: There were dense iron particles in the cytoplasm of SPIO-labeled iPSCs shown by Prussian staining and under transmission electron microscope. Differentiated iPSCs were positive for neuron-specific enolase. In addition, the proportion of neurons and glial cells showed no difference between the experimental and control groups. To conclude, SPIO labeling has no obvious effect on the capacity of iPSCs differentiating into neurons. Reasonable application of this new cell labeling technique will promote the development of seed cells in regenerative medicine.

RESUMEN

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the cytotoxic effect of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) on human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line HepG2 cells and corresponding changes of TGF-beta1-Smad pathway.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The cytotoxic effect of EGCG on HepG2 cells was determined by MTT assay. Cell cycle and apoptosis rate were detected by flow cytometry. RT-PCR and luciferase assay were used to verify whether TGF-beta1-Smad signaling pathway is intact in HepG2. The mRNA expression of Smad 2, Smad3, Smad4 and Smad7 was detected by real-time PCR.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>EGCG induced apoptosis in the HepG2 cells in a time- and concentration-dependent manner. The proportion of G(1) phase cells was increased gradually as the concentration increased. However, the percentage of cells in S phase was decreased gradually. Annexin V/PI assay demonstrated that early apoptosis increased as the concentration increased, and late apoptosis also increased, when treated with high-concentration EGCG. The intact TGF-beta1-Smad pathway was verified by luciferase assay and RT-PCR. There was no significant effect of EGCG on mRNA level of Smad 2, Smad 3, and Smad 4 in HepG2 cells, but downregulated mRNA level of Smad 7.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>EGCG can reduce apoptosis in human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line HepG2 cells. The activation of TGF-beta1-Smad signaling pathway may be involved in its cytotoxicity mechanisms.</p>

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To provide a systematic review with meta-analysis for addressing the relationship between fecal bile acids (FBAs) and colorectal cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Electronic databases were searched for all observational studies that examined the relationship between FBAs and colorectal cancer or adenoma, and calculated weighted mean difference (WMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Publication bias was assessed with funnel plot. RESULTS: Twenty case-control or cohort studies were identified. All studies were pooled to assess the relationship between total FBAs and cancer/adenoma of the large bowel, however, no association was seen (WMD 0.61mg/g freeze-dried feces; 95% CI: -0.35-1.57). Significantly increased concentration of chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA) was seen while pooling to assess the relationship between CDCA and cancer/adenoma of the large bowel (WMD 0.13 mg/g freeze-dried feces; 95% CI: 0.01-0.25), especially for colorectal cancer (WMD 0.28mg/g freeze-dried feces; 95% CI: 0.10-0.46). However, no significant differences in deoxycholic acid (DCA), lithocholic acid (LCA), and primary and secondary bile acids, were seen between patients with cancer and patients with matched controls regardless of fixed and random effects models. CONCLUSION: CDCA might play a role in the etiology of colorectal cancer.

RESUMEN

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>This study examined the status of health-related behaviors among rural residents and the factors influencing the practice of such behaviors.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>One thousand and ninety subjects aged 15 years or over in a rural community, Anhui Province, China were surveyed. A questionnaire was used to collect information on the health knowledge, attitude and behavior of the subjects. Information on health behavior included smoking, drinking, dietary habits, regular exercises, sleeping pattern and oral health behavior.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The prevalence of smoking and drinking in the male subjects was 46.5% and 46.9%, respectively. There was a positive significant association between smoking and drinking. Only 8.3% of all subjects ate three regular meals a day regularly. Among subjects who ate two meals a day, 89.7% did not have breakfast. Only 1.7% of subjects took part in regular exercise. About 85% of subjects slept 6 to 8 h per day. Only 38.4% of the respondents had the habit of hand washing before eating and after using the lavatory. 79.3% of the subjects brushed their teeth every day, and among them, only 10.6 percent brushed their teeth twice a day. Further analyses showed that 64.8% of subjects had 3-5 items of positive health behaviors out of 8 items and only 16.9% had six or more items. Logistical regression analyses suggested that better health behavior was affected by sex, age, years of education, income and health knowledge.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The status of health behaviors among rural residents was generally poor. It is thus urgent to reinforce health education in rural communities in China.</p>
