RESUMEN

Sera of 75 diabetic patients [IDDM] were analyzed for IgG, IgA, IgM, IgE, cortisol and ACTH levels. The study revealed a significant increase in concentrations of IgG, IgA, IgM and IgE in all patients. In addition, serum cortisol and ACTH concentrations showed a significant increase in GDRF and GDM, while in diabetic group no such finding was observed. So, serum levels of cortisol and ACTH besides the above mentioned parameters could be a diagnostic value in differentiate IDDM and the accompanying complications like renal failure as well as myocardial infarction

RESUMEN

Milk xanthine oxidase [XO] was prepared and purified by gel chromatographic analysis. Chromatographic runs were made on sephadex G200 column saturated with urea. The elution profile recorded two peaks: Dimeric and monomeric xanthine oxidase, respectively. The inhibitory effect of bisulfite, folate and ascorbate on the catalytic activity of xanthine oxidase was monitored by incubating the enzyme with different concentrations of these inhibitors. On assaying aliquot sample of the incubation mixture in a standardized method, a pronounced lag in rate production was recorded spectrophotometrically at 290 nm. XO activity increased from zero until substrate became limiting, but in case of inhibition the rate of catalysis never reached maximal velocity compared to control. Besides the inhibitory mechanism of morin and myricetin as flavonoids on XO activity were also studied by kinetic analysis. It was concluded that bisulfite, folate, ascorbate and flavonoids could be utilized in chemotherapy of hyperuricemia or gout

RESUMEN

In this study, glutamate dehydrogenase [GLDH] activity was evaluated spectrophotometrically in 100 individuals divided into four groups: A normal group [GN], diabetic group [GD], diabetic group accompanied with renal failure and diabetic group accompanied with myocardial infarction [GDM]. Serum aspartate aminotransferase [AST] activity in normal group was 27.9 U/L; while in case of GDM group, it increased significantly to be 125.64 U/L. Serum alanine aminotransferase [ALT] activity in the normal group was 28.76 U/L and it was slightly changed in the other diabetic groups

RESUMEN

The serum activity of glutamate dehydrogenase [GLDH] was measured spectrophotometrically in 75 cases, normal healthy 25 cases as a control group [I], chronic renal failure 25 cases group [II] and renal transplantation patients 25 cases group [III]. The mean level of GLDH activity in chronic renal failure [12.55 U/L] was significantly higher than the control group [1.58 U/L], and also, higher than the corresponding mean level of renal transplantation patients [2.54 U/L]. The result indicated that evaluation of serum GLDH activity has diagnostic potential
