Volvulus of the splenic flexure of the colon

A 21 year old man with acute intestinal obstruction due to volvulus of the splenic flexure of the colon is reported. A review of the literature has revealed 23 documented cases so far, including our case, and this is believed to be the first reported one in the UAE. Simple derotation of the splenic flexure was carried out with a successful outcome
