RESUMEN

Gall bladder diseases constitute common health problem worldwide Cholelithiasis is responsible for over 95% of gall bladder diseases. Methods: The present cross-sectional study was conducted upon 296 cholecystectomy specimens received in the department and findings of histopathology were noted. Results: Most of the cases belonged to the age group of 41-50 years. Chronic Calculous Cholecystitis (89.5%), Chronic cholecystitis with cholesterosis (3%), Follicular Cholecystitis (1.7%), Acute Calculous Cholecystitis (1%), Chronic Cholecystitis With Dysplastic Changes (1.4%) and Adenocarcinoma of gall bladder (1%) were the common changes. Conclusion: Chronic calculous cholecystitis was seen in 89.5% specimens and adencarcinoma in 1%.

RESUMEN

Lymphadenopathy is a common symptom seen in outpatient department. Knowledge about spectrum of illnesses is helpful for the clinician. Methods: The present cross-sectional study was conducted upon 96 patients. History of patients including age, clinical features, provisional diagnosis and findings of histopathology were noted. Results: The most common age group was 40-49 years (22.9%). 62.5% were males and 37.5% were females Cervical lymph nodes were most commonly involved. 49% specimen showed tubercular changes, 29.2% chronic nonspecific lymphadenitis, 7.3% Hodgkin’s lymphoma, 6.3% Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and 9.4% metastatic lesions. Conclusion: that lymph node biopsy is useful in arriving at accurate diagnosis.

RESUMEN

Ovarian tumours are common and account for 80% of all ovarian neoplasms. An accurate and early diagnosis of lesions is helpful in proper diagnosis and management of these cases. Methods: The present observational study was conducted upon 84 ovarian masses from 68 patients. Background details of the patients, clinical features and operative findings were noted from the case history sheets. Findings of histopathological examination were noted. Results: Most of the patients were above 40 years of age. 95.2% neoplasms were benign in nature. 1.2% was borderline and 3.6% malignant. Surface epithelial tumours contributed to 70.2%, germ cell tumours 25% and sex cord stromal tumours 4.8%. Conclusion: Benign ovarian tumours are more common than malignant ones. Of the benign ones, epithelial tumours are commonest.
