RESUMEN
The present study involves a 47-year-old male patient from Jordan that presented with a history of progressive shortness of breath and chest tightness. Cardiac hydatidosis was diagnosed based on typical radiological findings and a positive serology test. Intra-operatively, there was a mass of a hydatid cyst located in the left ventricle and interventricular septum with no other organs involved. The patient was treated by a surgical excision and albendazole without any complications

Mechanical valve thrombosis was diagnosed by cinefluoroscopy in two patients with bileaflet mitral valve prostheses, one St. Jude and the other Carbomedics. Both patients were treated with a 72- hour continuous intravenous infusion of Streptokinase. Serial cinefluoroscopy revealed normalization of valve leaflets motion. Clinical improvement was apparent. Thrombolytic therapy in the treatment of mechanical valve thrombosis is feasible, probably safe, efficacious and a viable alternative to surgical therapy in certain cases
