RESUMEN

This study aimed to establish the baseline sensitivity of Botrytis cinerea from Panax ginseng to prochloraz, and ensure the fitness of prochloraz-resistant mutants and the cross-resistance of B. cinerea to prochloraz and commonly used fungicides for the prevention and control of gray mold including boscalid, pyraclostrobin, iprodione, and pyrimethanil. The sensitivity of B. cinerea from P. ginseng to fungicides was determined by the mycelial growth rate method. The prochloraz-resistant mutants were screened out through fungicide domestication and ultraviolet(UV) induction. The fitness of resistant mutants was determined through the stability of subculture, mycelial growth rate, and pathogenicity test. The cross-resistance between prochloraz and the four fungicides was determined by Person correlation analysis. The results showed that all B. cinerea strains tested were sensitive to prochloraz, and the EC_(50) value ranged from 0.004 8 to 0.062 9 μg·mL~(-1), with an average of 0.022 μg·mL~(-1). The sensitivity frequency distribution diagram showed that 89 B. cinerea strains were located within the main peak with a continuous single peak curve, and the average EC_(50) value of 0.018 μg·mL~(-1) was taken as the baseline sensitivity of B. cinerea to prochloraz. The fungicide domestication and UV induction obtained 6 resistant mutants, among which 2 strains were unstable and the other 2 strains showed decreased resistance after multiple generations of culture. Furthermore, the mycelial growth rate and spore yield of all resistant mutants were lower than those of their parents, and the pathogenicity of most mutants was lower than that of their parents. In addition, prochloraz had no obvious cross-resistance with boscalid, pyraclostrobin, iprodione, and pyrimethanil. In conclusion, prochloraz has great potential for controlling gray mold in P. ginseng, and the resistance risk of B. cinerea to prochloraz is low.

RESUMEN

Large general hospitals currently play an increasingly important role in the diagnosis and treatment for acute critical patients and difficult diseases because of the development of dual referral system and hierarchical diagnosis, as well as the formation of medical treatment alliance. Patients with oral cancers are often associated with systemic diseases, which increases the complexity of the condition. Thus, meeting the demand through the traditional single medical model is difficult. As such, a multidisciplinary team (MDT) model has been proposed and has achieved a good clinical effect. To standardize the application of this model, we organized an event in which relevant experts discussed and formulated a consensus to provide standardized suggestions on the MDT process and the diagnosis and treatment of common systemic diseases as reference for clinical practice.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVEThe pathologic slides and clinical data of 119 patients with mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) of salivary glands were reviewed. All patients underwent surgical therapy in Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, College of Stomatology, Fourth Military Medical University. The postoperative overall observed survival rates and specific survival rates were statistically caculated, and the correlative clinicopathologic factors influencing the prognosis were evaluated.

METHODSStatistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 10.0 software. The survival rates were obtained by the Kaplan-Meier method. The clinicopathologic parameters were evaluated using log rank test (univariate analysis) and Cox proportional hazards regression model (multivariate analysis).

RESULTSThe overall observed survival rates of this group were 92.53%, 87.52% and 85.39% at 5, 10 and 15 years respectively after surgical therapy. Univariate analysis demonstrated that the factors correlated with lower in survival rates were patient's age (> or = 40 years), advanced clinical stage (TNM III, IV stage) and the poorly differentiated tumors (P < 0.05). The survival rates of male patients with MEC in the major salivary glands were significantly lower than those of female patients (P = 0.008). The degree of differentiation, TNM stage and preoperative symptoms were three important prognostic factors that were selected into the Cox proportional hazards regression model.

CONCLUSIONSMost patients with highly differentiated MEC in salivary glands had a favorable outcome after receiving adequate surgical treatment. The degree of differentiation and the TNM stage of MEC in the salivary glands are two useful factors to evaluate the prognosis of these neoplasms.

RESUMEN

Two distinct routes (classical mevalonate pathway and a novel mevalonate-independent pathway) are utilized by plants for the biosynthesis of isopentenyl diphosphate, the universal precursor of isoprenoids (Fig. 1). Present researches indicated that taxol was synthesized mainly via non-mevalonate pathway, but not genetic evidence was showed. The second step in non-mevalonate pathway involves an intramolecular rearrangement and subsequent reduction of deoxyxylulose phosphate to yield 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol-4-phosphate, and 1-Deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate reductoisomerase (DXR) with responsibility for this reaction was considered as a key enzyme. As a tool for the isolation of genes in terpenoid biosynthesis in plants, total RNA was prepared from Taxus chinensis suspension cells, a cell type highly specialized for diterpene (taxol). A reverse transcription-PCR strategy based on the design of degenerated oligonucleotides was developed for isolating the gene encoding a gymnosperm homolog of this enzyme from Taxus chinensis. Through sequence analysis by Blast P online, the resulting cDNA showed highly homologous to 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate reductoisomerases, with 95% identification compared with Arabidopsis thaliana (Q9XFS9), 94% with Mentha x piperita (Q9XESO), 80% with Synechococcus elongatus (Q8DK30), 78% with Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 (Q55663) and Nostoc sp. PCC 7120 (Q8YP49), and 73% with Synechococcus leopoliensis (Q9RKT1). Deduced amino acid sequences were also analyzed by PROSITE, ClustalX (1.81) and Phylio (3.6 alpha), and data present evidence for the existence of this deoxyxyluose phosphate reductoisomerase in Taxus chinensis. This is the first report of the dxr gene cloned from gymnosperm.

RESUMEN

We evaluated after-cataract, capsular opacification, following combined lens removal with phacoemulsification or pars plana lensectomy, pars plana vitrectomy and primary or secondary IOL implantation on 34 eyes followed up more than 3 years. For the lens removal 23 eyes had pars plana lensectomy ad 11 eyes phacoemulsification. Nd-YAG capsulotomy is needed on 8/34 eyes(25.5%). Nd-YAG capsulotomy was performed on 3/23 eyes(13%) of pars plana lensectomy and on 5/11 eyes(45.5%) of phacoemulsification. Nd-YAG capsulotomy was performed to 7/22 eyes(31.8%) of primary IOL implantation and 1/12 eyes(8.3%) of secondary IOL implantation. Most patients had systemic vascular disease such as diabetes or hypertension. In conclusion, combined pars plana lensectomy, pars plana vitrectomy and secondary IOL implantation was the least incidence of after-cataract and side effects, so this procedure was thought to be recommended for vitreoretinal surgery.

RESUMEN

We evaluated the effect of 0.1% Pranoprofen,a non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug, and therapeutic contact lens in the pain control after refractive surgeries. One hundred and two patients undergone PRK were subdivided into 4 groups: 27 patients treated with placebo (Group 1), 28 patients with Pranoprofen (Group 2), 30 patients with therapeutic contactlens (Group 3) and 17 patients with Pranoprofen and contact lens (Group 4). Forty-seven patients undergone LASIK were subdivided into 2 groups: 27 patients treated with placebo (Group 5) and 20 patients with Pranoprofen (Group 6). We recorded and analyzed visual analogue scale, 6 questions about pain and pain scores during postoperative 48 hours to evaluate the degree of pain. In PRK groups, analgesic effect was evident in groups using Pranoprofen (Group 2,4) compared to the groups not using the drugs (Group 1,3). The analgesic effect was augmented by the combined use of therapeutic contact lenses along with Pranoprofen (Group 4). Pranoprofen did not have an adverse effect on corneal epithelial wound healing. In LASIK groups, pain control was more effective in Pranoprofen using groups. However, it was not statistically significant. In conclusion, 0.1%Pranoprofen can be used effectively to reduce postoperative pain following PRK and LASIK procedures and the analgesic effect of the drug can be augmented by the combined use of therapeutic contact lenses.

RESUMEN

Cytomegalovirus(CMV) ocular infection is one of the common ocular complications seen in immunocompromised condition, such as AIDS or organ transplant recipient receiving immunosuppressive drugs, CMV papillitis is known to be care. CMV papillitis has, however, a poor visual prognosis because the treatment is more resistant to than that of CMV retinitis. We report a case of CMV papillitis after the renal transplantation which has good result with long-term ganciclovir administration.
