RESUMEN

A case of primary mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma (marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of MALT according to WHO classification) in conjunctiva, which presented as a slowly growing salmon-colored mass at limbus of left eye is reported. Histological examination revealed a diffuse low-grade lymphoma. Immunohistochemical analysis using monoclonal antibodies showed that the tumor cells are leukocyte common antigen (CD45)+, CD20+, CD3-, CD5-, CD10- and CD43-, which confirmed the B-cell lineage of lymphoma. The case is being reported for its rarity and clinical importance of recognizing such cases because of excellent prognosis.

RESUMEN

Lesions of conjunctiva comprise a varied spectrum of conditions. A total of 50 patients, 34 males and 16 females, with lesions in conjunctiva were subjected to study. Histopathological examination of the biopsied specimens from the lesions was done using haematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stain and other special stains when needed. The study was done to report the spectrum and frequency of different lesions of conjunctiva in a tertiary care eye hospital in India.

RESUMEN

Enucleation or complete removal of eye is considered to be a mainstay of therapy for many end-stage diseases of eye. We aimed to determine the frequency and indications for enucleations perfomed at a tertiary care hospital in eastern India. A total of 150 enucleated eyes from 146 patients were analyzed. The formalin fixed paraffin embedded sections of all enucleated eyes were examined microscopically and histopathological analysis was done. In the present series, malignant tumours were most frequent indication of enucleation (64%) followed by ocular inflammation (14.7%), staphyloma (6.7%), trauma (5.3%), painful blind eye due to glaucoma (4%). Retinoblastoma, a malignant tumour emerged as commonest indication (52%). Three major indications for enucleation were malignant tumours, ocular inflammation and staphyloma altogether 92%. Malignant melanoma though commonest ophthalmic tumour requiring enucleation in many parts of the world was not very common in our studies comprising 18.7% of all malignant tumours.

RESUMEN

An attempt has been made to find out the proportion of genetic causes in cases of primary amenorrhoea and to analyse different chromosomal pattern. Cases were analysed according to clinical profile, X-ray, laparoscopy/pneumography, hormone profile, USG, Gonadal Biopsy and Cytogenetic study including Sex Chromatin (Barr body) and Karyotyping. Among the 72 cases studied, the aetiological factors were Mullerian duct abnormalities in 27 cases (37.5%) Gonadal agenesis in 13 cases (18.05%). Turner stigmata in 18 cases (25%), Y cell line in 6 cases (8.33%). Delayed menarche in 4 cases (5.55%), systemic disease like Tuberculosis and Idiopathic 2 cases (2.77%) each. Chromosomal aberration was seen in 24 cases (33.33%) and it comes second most common cause of primary amenorrhoea after mullerian duct abnormalities.
