RESUMEN

The hazardous health effect of the exposure to 900-1800 MHz radiofrequency electromagnetic fields [RF-EMF] which emitted from mobile phones was investigated on the plasma protein and eye of newly born mice. Twenty one newly born mice were divided into 3 groups, the 1[st] group served as control, the 2[nd] group exposed to mobile phone radiation daily for one month [45 min/day] and the 3[rd] group remained one month following the end of exposure. The results showed deleterious changes in the plasma protein pattern by electrophoretic analysis. Also, the microscopic examination demonstrated numerous histopathological and histochemical changes in the eye mainly represented by degenerated, hemorrhagic areas and detachment in some layers of the eye with alteration in collagen, polysaccharides, total protein and marked increase in amyloid beta [beta] protein contents of newly born mice exposed to RF-EMF from mobile phone [45 min/day] for one month as well as after one month following the end of exposure. It was concluded that the exposure to mobile phone radiation causes plasma proteins alterations and eye pathology in newly born mice

RESUMEN

Investigating the effects of mobile phone-emitted radiation [MPR] on inducing histopathological changes associated with amyloidosis feature in liver, kidney and brain of infant mice. Twenty one infant mice [aged 1 day] were assigned to 3 groups, the 1[st] group served as control, the 2[nd] group exposed to mobile phone radiation [MPR] daily for one month [¾ h /day] and the 3[rd] group remained for one month after stopping radiation exposure. There were different degrees of damage related to amyloidosis feature in these organs subsequent to MPR exposure. One month post exposure there was an increase in the degree of damage related to amyloidosis feature. The results of this study showed that MPR leads to histopathological changes associated with amyloidosis feature in the liver, kidney and brain of infant mice

RESUMEN

Although there is little doubt that antioxidants are a necessary component for good health, no one knows if supplements should be taken and, if so, how much. To investigate the increase in antioxidants supplementation, a group of mice feeding on a diet containing 20% soybean was used as control group. The control group treated with 5% Nigella sativa and Antox drug [3 mg/mouse/day] either alone or in combination for 15 days. Another control group was treated with the same antioxidants and subjected to 1 Gy of gamma- irradiation x 5 times day after day. In kidney tissue the levels of malonaldehyde [MDA] and reduced glutathione [GSH] were estimated. Also, the histopathological changes were recorded. 5% Nigella sativa revealed a little decrease in MDA level and a highly significant decrease in GSH in kidney tissue while the exposure to fractionated dose of gamma-irradiation predicted a highly significant decrease in MDA and a highly significant increase in GSH level. Gastric intubations of Antox drug showed a highly significant increase in MDA and GSH levels in kidney tissue either alone or in addition to fractionated radiation exposure. Combined treatments of Nigella sativa and Antox drug showed a highly significant decrease in MDA level and a highly significant increase in GSH level in kidney tissue in comparison to the control group. Histopathological changes showed that treatment with 5% Nigella sativa and Antox drug either alone or in combination revealed toxic effect on kidney tissue. However, their treatments prior to radiation exposure showed ameliorating effect. Our findings indicated that we must use the antioxidants under control or under oxidative stress

RESUMEN

This work aims to investigate the role of Sodium Selenite [NaSeO[3]] in ameliorating the oxidative stress of gamma radiation exposure. The relation between the antioxidant status, the histopahological changes and the immunohistological expression of p53 was evaluated. Adult male Swiss albino mice weighing 25-30 g were used in this work. Lipid peroxidation and GSH activity levels were estimated in liver and intestinal tissues. Histopathological observations in addition to the immunohistological expression of p53 were also assayed. Experimental animals treated daily with 0.7micro g/ml/kg body weight of NaSeO[3] for two weeks. Some animals were exposed to 5Gy gamma-irradiation and others exposed to 5Gy gamma-irradiation and treated with NaSeO[3]. Due to ROS production, 5Gy gamma-radiation induced a highly significant increase in lipid peroxidation and a significant decrease in GSH activity level in .liver and intestine tissues. NaSeO[3] supplementation revealed NS change in lipid peroxidation of liver and intestine tissues, while GSH levels recorded a significant increase as compared to the control group. Combined treatments with NaSeO[3] supplementation and 5Gy gamma-radiation revealed a significant amelioration in lipid peroxidation and GSH levels as compared to the irradiated groups. The histopathological observations went parallel to the biochemical records, while p53 expression was treatments and organs dependent. NaSeO[3] supplementation recorded ameliorated effects against cellular damage caused by radiation oxidative stress
