RESUMEN

Objective To explore the application and clinical significance of serratus anterior muscle flap transfer in correction of lateral part deformity of expander to implant breast reconstruction. Methods Six patients who received expander-to-implant breast reconstruction were enrolled. After silicone implant replacing the tissue expander, all 6 cases represented lateral part deformity of the reconstructed breast. The turn-over serratus anterior muscle flap was used as lateral coverage of the deformed breast. Results Of all patients (6 cases),breast aesthetics were improved with incisions well-healed.There were no complications such as capsular contracture, hematoma, infection or insicional dehiscence. Conclusions Serratus anterior muscle flap can provide sufficient lateral coverage for expander-to-implant breast reconstruction. It is safe, simple and cheap to apply in improving the aesthetics of breast reconstruction.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo investigate the PET-CT manifestation and clinical features of patients with Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia(WM) .

METHODSThe clinical features, laboratorial examination results and PET-CT manifestation of 12 patients with WM were analyzed retrospectively.

RESULTSThe average age of 12 patients with WM was 63.5 years old, the most common incipient symptoms were fatigue and hyperviscosity syndrome. The median SUVof bone marrow was 4.9 (range of 2.1 to 21.9), with diffusely increasedF-FDG uptake in all the patients. In 6 patients, the median SUVof splenomegaly and lymphadenectasis was 3.2 (range of 2.3 to 5.2) and 5.2 (range of 3.6 to 11.2), respectively. The SUVof bone marrow, splenomegaly and lymphadenectasis did not related with white blood cell count, hemoglobin level, blood platelet count, β2- microglobulin level and serum monoclonal IgM of such patients, respectively (both P>0.5). In univariate analysis, serum monoclonal IgM and the SUVof lymphadenectasis were found to be the prognostic factors (both P<0.5).

CONCLUSIONTheF-FDG PET-CT feature of Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia has some characteristics which are helpful for setting up the clinical therapeutic schedule.

RESUMEN

Thermostable alpha-amylase from Pyrococcus furious is an important industrial enzyme in brewing and alcohol production. Eexpression of the thermostable a-amylase in plants can reduce greatly costs in the production of alcohol using crop plants. A chloroplast expression vector, p64A, containing the thermostable alpha-amylase gene from Pyrococcus furious, was constructed with clpP-trnL-petB-chlL-rp123-rpl2 as Chlamydomonas reinhardtii plastid homologous recombinant fragments and spetinomycin-resistant aadA gene as select marker. The plasmid p64A was transferred into the chloroplast genome of C. reinhardtii by the biolistic method. Nine independently transformed lines were obtained by 100 mg/L spectinomycin selection. PCR amplification, Southern blot analysis of the transgene and cultivation in the dark all showed that the a-amylase gene had been integrated into chloroplast genome of C. reinhardtii. The activity of amylase expressed in the chloroplast of C. reinhardtii was detected by amylase activity assay and found to be as high as 77.5 u/g fresh weight of cells. These experimental results demonstrated the possibility of using transgenic chloroplasts of plant as bioreactors for production of industrial enzymes.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the relationship of internet addiction and depression, and evaluate other possible related factors. METHODS: Data was based on the questionnaires from 300 college students in Seoul. Gender, age, major, family income, academic performance, people they live with, location, and main use of internet were included. We used Young`s Internet Addiction Test and Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) to measure the depression and addiction degree. RESULTS: In logistic regression analysis, it was found that gender, depression degree and main use of internet were significant variables. There were 136 males, 144 females in this study, and the risk of being addicted to internet were 10.9 times(CI:2.67~44.68) higher in male than female. People with moderate depression (Beck`s Depression Inventory(BDI) Score>20) also had higher risk(11.4 times, CI:2.03~63.95) to be addicted in internet than normal group. Lastly, in case of internet use, people who use internet for games and chatting were 6.38(CI:1.38~29.63) and 4.84 times(CI:1.30~18.06) risky compare to the group with web surfing. CONCLUSION: The result of this study suggests that there is noticeable relationship of internet addiction and depression. However we do not have evidence of exact relation between them, therefore more studies should be done.
