RESUMEN

Back ground: Heart disease is one of the side effects of breast cancer. Physical activity and herbs are effective in reducing the inflammatory factors of the heart tissue


Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of 6 weeks of swimming and ginger on some inflammatory factors of the heart tissue of mice induced by breast cancer


Methods: 60 female Balb C-female [6-8 weeks old] and [150-250 g weight] after induction of breast cancer [surgical technique] and familiarity with the environment were randomly divided into 6 groups: healthy control, control Cancer, Cancer-Swim, Cancer-Supplement, Cancer-Saline-Supplement and Cancer-Saline. Swimming and swimming-Supplement groups swam for 6 weeks, five days a week and 60 minutes a day. Supplements and supplements-swimming groups were injected 6 days a day with ginger extract [20 mg / kg] and saline [sodium chloride 0.9%]. After intervention, alpha-Tumor necrosis levels [TNFa] and Interleukin10 [IL10] were measured by ELISA and specialized kits. One-way analysis of variance was used to analyze the data [P <0.05]


Results: The results showed that induction of cancer was associated with an increase in TNFa and a decrease in IL10. Six weeks of swimming, supplementation and combined intervention reversed these changes. But there is no significant difference between these three independent variables


Conclusion: Swimming, supplementation of ginger and their combination may be effective in modulating inflammatory and anti-inflammatory factors in the heart tissue of breast cancer patients

RESUMEN

Background and Objective: Liver diseases accompanied with growing of obesity in children. This study was done to evaluate the effect of aerobic exercise and vitamin C intake on liver transaminases activities in 8-11 years obese girls


Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 28 obese girls were randomly divided into four equal groups including control, exercise, supplement [500 mg vitamin C tablet, dailly] and combined [500 mg vitamin C, daily plus exercise] groups. Aerobic exercise was consisted of exercise movements at 50% to 70% maximal heart rate and 3 sessions per week for 8 weeks. Fasting blood samples were collected before and 48 hour after the last intervention. Serum transaminases activities were measured by enzymatic colorimetric method


Results: 8 weeks of aerobic exercise, vitamin C and the combined intervention were associated with a significant reduction in Alanine aminotransferase [ALT] and Aspartate aminotransferase [AST] activities [P<0.05] whereas there was no effect on the Alkaline phosphatase activity. All these interventions were associated with significantly greater reduction in the ALT and AST activities ratio in comparision with control group. Combined intervention induced more reduction on percent of variables changes compared with other interventions [P<0.05]


Conclusion: It seems selected aerobic exercise and vitamin C intake may induce their protective effect in obese girls via improvement in liver function

RESUMEN

Background: one of the problems due to aging is apoptosis development in various tissues of body. There is some evidence that some drugs induce apoptosis development via oxidative stress. However, physical activity and herbal drugs through two different mechanisms can cause to inhibit the apoptosis


Objective: the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of concurrent regular aerobic training and garlic extract on Bax and Bcl-2 levels and Bax to Bcl-2 ratio in cardiac tissue of aged rats with chronic kidney disease


Methods: forty two aged male rats were selected and randomly divided into control group, Doxorubicin group, Doxorubicin and saline group, Doxorubicin and aerobic training group, Doxorubicin and garlic group, Doxorubicin, garlic and aerobic training group. The chronic kidney disease induced by the subcutaneous injection of doxorubicin [8.5 mg/kg of body weight] .The protocol training included 3 sessions per week, 30 minutes per session for 8 weeks. The garlic extract were given by gavage [2.5 g/kg of body weight]. Cardiac levels of Bax and Bcl-2 were measured by ELISA


Results: the results showed that eight weeks swimming training and garlic extract and combination of them caused to significant increase in Bcl-2 levels and significant decrease in Bax levels and Bcl-2 to Bax ratio of aged cardiac tissue rats with chronic kidney disease [P<0.05]


Conclusion: based on the results, although physical training and garlic extract individually imposed protective effects on the cardiac tissue but intervention effect of them had no reinforcement effect on the cardiac protection
