RESUMEN

Dendrophthoe falcata [L.f] Ettingsh belongs to Family Loranthaceae, is a bushy parasitic plant that grows on a variety of host plants. The entire plant is medicinally important and is used extensively in traditional medicine. The present work attempts to summarize the macroscopic characters of the leaves of Dendrophthoe falcata, grown on the host plant, Buchanania lanzan. The microscopic characters, physical constant values, extractive values, fluorescent analysis of the leaves were carried out. Preliminary phytochemical screening of extracts were also performed. The present investigation contributes to establish the Pharmacognostic profile of the medicinally effective leaves

RESUMEN

The anti-ulcer activity of the leaves of Cassia mimosoides [family: Caesalpiniaceae] was studied on albino rats. The anti-ulcer activity of the aqueous extract, ethanolic extract and fresh leaf powder juice with CMC was evaluated by using pyloric ligation model and aspirin-induced ulceration model. All the test samples revealed significant anti-ulcer activity. The order of decreasing ulcer activity was found to be as: root juice < ethanolic extract < aqueous extract. The total acidity and free acidity also registered significant decrease in a similar manner. The results indicate that the Cassia mimosoides leaves possess effective anti-ulcer activity

RESUMEN

Cuscuta reflexa which is enriched with flavons known from the phytochemical test flavonoid and is of natural origin can be used as hepatoprotectives .The total ethanolic extract of the shrub Cuscuta reflexa [family Convolvulaceae] was studied for hepatoprotective activity on Carbon tetrachloride induced livesr toxicity in rats. The main biochemical parameters of reducing in the elevated enzymes level of serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase and serum alkaline phosphatase was determined as a criterion for hepatoprotective activity. The result indicates a very potential hepatoprotective activity
