Juvenile idiopathic arthritis can be difficult to diagnose because there are no specific diagnostic tests and arthritis is often not evident early in the course. We present a case of systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis involving multiple small and large joints along with flexion contractures. Investigations revealed iron deficiency anemia and a positive rheumatoid factor. Patient was started on DMARDs, corticosteroids and iron supplements.

Mental disorders are neglected and disrespected because of community’s perception and social stigma, in turn causing increased burden to the society. There has been increase in the mental health awareness and community participation in the recent years. This compelled us to check the changing trends in attitudes in the present scenario compared to past. The current study has been done on a total of 600 subjects (1998 and 2016) and Attitude towards Mental Illness – Rating Scale (ATMI-RS) was used. Data were compared using appropriate statistics. All the groups were found to have more positive attitudes in the present compared to the past. The groups exposed to mental illness have better attitudes then unexposed in both the present and past. However, still neutral and negative attitudes are found among common population. It necessitates having more mental health campaigning and promoting awareness to destigmatize the notions regarding mental illness

A field experiment was conducted during rabi 2012-13 at research farm of Directorate of Sorghum Research, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design, replicated thrice, with 10 Sorghum genotypes as main treatment (well watered and water stress conditions) and with 10 genotypes are sub treatments CRS 4, CRS 19, CRS 20, PEC 17, CSV 18, M 35-1, Phule chitra, Phule moulee, EP 57 and CRS 1). Photosynthetic rate and stomatal resistance at 15 and 30 DAF were positively and significantly correlated with grain yield while the transpiration rate at 15 and 30 DAF exhibited negative correlation with grain yield. SPAD chlorophyll meter reading (15 and 30 DAF) and chlorophyll content at 30 DAF had positively significant correlation with grain yield.

Wilson’s disease is a rare inherited disorder of copper metabolism. Liver and brain are the main organs affected. Hemolytic anemia is a rare clinical manifestation of Wilson’s disease. We present a case of Wilson’s disease who presented with hemolytic anemia.

Background Mental illnesses are associated with stigma with associated unfavorable societal attitudes.Aims To study the attitudes of people towards mental illness.Methods The attitude of caregivers of persons with mental illness & also lay public was assessed on instruments.Results A favorable attitude towards mental illnesses was found in the sample. Caregivers had more positive attitudethan the lay public.Conclusion Knowledge of the prevailing attitudes of people towards mental illness helps in adopting methods to makethese attitudes more positive, which helps in better outcome & recovery.

The caregiver burden was assessed on Montgomery Borgatta Caregiver Burden Scale.Results The caregiver burden in families of psychiatric clients is higher than that of other medical illness, & increaseswith the duration of illnessConclusion Interventions aiming at reduction of caregiver burden should be routinely incorporated in the managementof persons with mental illness.

Following isoproterenol treatment mitochondrial lipid peroxidation, phosphoslipase activity, lactate and calcium increased significantly, while activities of tricarboxylic acid cycle enzymes, enzymes of respiratory chain and ATP production showed decline. Oxidative phosphorylation was also affected on isoproterenol treatment with significant reduction in all the variables. Fish oil pretreatment in isoproterenol treated rats showed improved mitochondrial energy metabolism. The results suggest cardioprotective effect of fish oil.
