RESUMEN

Objective To determine the time point when porcine pancreatic elastase(PPE)induced abdominal aortic aneurysm(AAA)reaches the regression phase in mice and observe the histological characteristics of AAA in regression phase. Methods AAAs were induced by transient intraluminal infusion of PPE in C57BL/6J mice. The diameters of the mouse abdominal aortas were measured before PPE infusion and sacrifice time, day 14 for AAA progression phase or day 56 for regression phase after PPE infusion, respectively. The histological characteristics of the aneurysm lesion site on day 14 and day 56 after surgery were compared and analyzed. Results The diameters of the abdominal aortas were significantly increased in both day 14 and day 56 after PPE infusion groups(diameter growth rate 147%and 155%,respectively)as compared to the baseline diameters. In the day 14 group, the infused aortas showed typical AAA characteristics, such as elastin break/degradation,medial smooth muscle cells depletion, and inflammatory cell diffused infiltration. In the day 56 group after PPE infusion, although the artery diameter did not change significantly as compared to the day 14 group, histology showed that elastin was partially repaired, new smooth muscle cells were added to the damaged aorta media, the infiltrated inflammatory cells were significantly subsided, and the adventitia neovascularization was reduced, showing a significant feature of the disease regression phase. Conclusion In the PPE-induced mouse AAA model, day 56 after surgery is an appropriate time point for observing aneurysm regression, and the histological characteristics of the regression are obvious.

RESUMEN

Objective:To seek specific response points on the body surface of patients with primary dysmenorrhea(PD)by observing blood perfusion unit(PU)at different points of the three Yin meridians of foot using laser speckle contrast imaging(LSCI). Methods:Eighty PD patients were recruited as a PD group, and 80 healthy female undergraduates were taken as a normal group.During one menstrual cycle(before menstruation, during menstruation, and 3 d after menstruation),each participant was examined using the LSCI system to determine PU at bilateral Taixi(KI3),Taibai(SP3),Taichong(LR3),Shuiquan(KI5),Diji(SP8),Zhongdu(LR6),Sanyinjiao(SP6),and Xuehai(SP10)and non-acupuncture points. The researchers in charge of point location, operation, and statistical analysis were not aware of grouping.PU at the detection spots was taken as the outcome measure. Results:Compared with the normal group, the PD group showed increases in PU at right Taixi(KI3)before menstruation(P<0.05)and at bilateral Zhongdu(LR6)and right Diji(SP8)during menstruation(P<0.05).At the other time points, significance was not found between the two groups in comparing PU at the detected spots. Conclusion:Compared with healthy participants,PD patients present specific changes in PU at Taixi(KI3),Diji(SP8),and Zhongdu(LR6)at specific time points during the menstrual cycle, which provides a reference for acupuncture-moxibustion treatment of PD in clinical settings.

RESUMEN

Doxorubicin (Dox) is widely used to the treatment of cancer, however, it could cause damage to gastric mucosa. To investigate the protective effects and related mechanisms of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) and vitamin C (VC) on Dox-induced gastric mucosal injury, we presented the survey of the 4 groups of the rats with different conditions. The results showed Dox treatment significantly induced GES-1 apoptosis, but preconditioning in GES-1 cells with VC or CoQ10 significantly inhibited the Dox-induced decrease and other harm effects, including the expression and of IκKβ, IκBα, NF-κB/p65 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) in GES-1 cells. Moreover, high-throughput sequencing results showed Dox treatment increased the number of harmful gut microbes, and CoQ10 and VC treatment inhibited this effect. CoQ10 and VC treatment inhibits Dox-induced gastric mucosal injury by inhibiting the activation of the IkKB/IκBα/NF-κB/p65/TNF-α pathway, promoting anti-inflammatory effects of gastric tissue and regulating the composition of the intestinal flora.

RESUMEN

Objective To compare and analyze the accuracy and safety of robot-assisted and conventional freehand open approach in pedicle screw fixation using meta-analysis.Methods PubMed,Embase,Cochrane,China Biology Medicine,Wanfang and CNKI databases were searched by computer retrieval to identify the relevant literatures published before December1,2016.The qualified literatures were selected according to the preestablished the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, and processed for data extraction and quality evaluation. The RevMan 5.3 software was used for the meta-analysis.The relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were adopted to represent the effect differences in the dichotomous variable data. The effect difference of continuous variable data was represented by mean difference (MD) or standardized mean difference (SMD).When P<0.05 and 95% CI does not contain the value of 1,the difference was considered statistically significant. Results A total of 266 patients were enrolled, including 138 cases of robot-assisted group and 128 cases of conventional freehand open group,in which 1 200 screws were implanted, including 608 screws by robot-assisted system and 592 screws by conventional freehand open approach. The Gertzbein-Robbins grading criteria (grade A to C) were used. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the accuracy of pedicle screw fixation between the robotic-assisted and conventional freehand open approach according to the grading criteria,i.e.grades A (RR =1.07,95%CI:0.82,1.39,I2=46%,P=0.62),grades B (RR=l.56,95%CI:0.86,2.82,I2=0%,P=0.14) and grades C (RR=0.91,95%CI:0.32,2.55,I2=0%,P=0.85).For the two groups, the difference was no statistically significance in the complication rate (RR=0.33,95%CI:0.05,2.17,I2=0%,P=0.25),and in the revision rate (RR=0.53,95%CI:0.10,2.90,I2=0%,P=0.47).The difference was statistically significance in the overall surgical time (MD=20.90,95%CI:5.54,36.26,I2=15%,P=0.008),and in the exposure time (MD=-1.19,95%CI:-1.63,-0.75,I2=15%,P<0.000 01).The difference was no statistically significance in the distance between screws and facet joint surfaces (SMD=-1.15,95%CI:0.79,1.51,I2=16%,P<0.000 01).Conclusions Compared with the conventional freehand open approach, the current evidence cannot confirm that the robot-assisted system has significant advantages in the surgical accuracy of pedicle screw fixation and complication rate. The spinal surgical robot-assisted system,as a new technology, has considerable potential for further development and application in spinal surgery.
