Lichen planus [LP] is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis. Its etiology remains unknown, but it is regarded as being the result of reactions associated with cell-mediated immunity in the skin. A case of LP resulting from hepatitis B virus vaccination was described, and this was subsequently followed by the reporting of LP cases that were due to human immunodeficiency virus, influenza, and diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus vaccination.
