RESUMEN
Durante el año de 1999 se realizó un estucho de casos y controles, con una muestra de 15 personas, atendidas por Cáncer de colon en el instituto del Seguro Social de Manizales, durante el periodo comprendido entre enero de 1997 hasta abril de 1999 y un grupo control de 30 personas que no presentaban patologías del tracto gastrointestinal. Esto con el fin de explorar los factores de riesgo alimentarios que pudiesen influir en la aparición del Cáncer de colon. La recolección de la información se hizo mediante una encuesta sobre hábitos alimentarios que evaluaba las variables: grasas, condimentos, carnes, nitratos, bebidas alcohólicas, fibra y vitaminas. Los datos obtenidos se cuantificaron y promediaron para después ser analizados en el programa Epilnfo 6. Los resultados obtenidos determinaron como factores de riesgo para el Cáncer de colon principalmente el consumo elevado de bebidas alcohólicas, seguido del de grasas, carnes y nitratos. Y como factores protectores, el consumo de vitaminas y fibra.
During the year of 1999 was accomplished a study of cases and controls, with a sample of 15 persons, attended by Colon Cancer in the Institute of the Social Security of Manizales during the period understood between January of 1997 until April of 1999 and a group control of 30 persons that they were not presenting pathologies of the tract gastric. This in order to explore the nutritional risk factors that they could influence the appearance of the Colon Cancer. The compilation of the information was made through a survey on nutritional habits that was evaluating the variable fats, spices, meats, nitrates, alcoholic beverages, fiber and vitamins. The obtained data were quantified and averaged for after be nalyzed in the program Epilnfo 6. The obtained results determined as risk factors for the Colon Cancer mainly the high consumption by followed alcoholic beverages of the of fats, meats and nitrates. And as protective factors the vitamins and fiber consumption.
