RESUMEN
El presente trabajo de investigación "Prótesis sin metal Valplast, Una alternativa para Prótesis Parciales Removibles Convencionales", desarrollado por estudiantes en el Proceso de Graduación para optar al grado de Doctorado en Cirugía Dental. Esta investigación pretende conocer la dimensión del problema delimitado, en este caso el conocimiento de una opción más para la restauración bucal de personas con pérdidas parciales de su dentadura, como lo son las Prótesis Flexibles y las implicaciones que tiene para el paciente. La pérdida de la dentición permanente ya sea parcial o total traerá consigo problemas de diferentes índoles que van desde la función masticatoria hasta los aspectos estéticos; además la evolución del mismo repercute en reabsorciones desmedidas en el reborde alveolar, creando características específicas en el paciente que desfavorecen la estabilidad y retención de las prótesis. El perfeccionamiento de estos aparatos ha sido uno de los principales retos de la odontología a través del tiempo; el estipular una clasificación que facilite entender su funcionamiento para así poder generar un correcto diseño, establecer consideraciones clínicas específicas que permitan una mayor certeza en el plan de tratamiento a seguir, y elegir de la mejor forma los diferentes componentes que conforman la prótesis, dependiendo del caso que se nos presente. En sus inicios las Prótesis Parciales removibles convencionales se limitaban a la rehabilitación de la función masticatoria dejando de lado la estética y comodidad del paciente debido a sus componentes. Por esta razón para las ciencias restaurativas modernas encontrar un material que cumpla con las expectativas estéticas y funcionales adecuadas es de principal importancia, dando lugar al aparecimiento de las Prótesis sin Metal a base de nylon. En cuanto a este tipo de prótesis se da a conocer su composición, función, ventajas y desventajas, como una alternativa a las prótesis parciales removibles convencionales, así como sus diferencias, estableciendo una nueva percepción y comprensión de conceptos con relación a la indicación de las prótesis flexibles.
The present research work "Valplast metal-free prosthesis, an alternative for Conventional Removable Partial Prosthesis", developed by students in the Graduation Process to qualify for the degree of Doctorate in Dental Surgery. This research aims to know the dimension of the delimited problem, in this case the knowledge of one more option for the oral restoration of people with partial loss of their teeth, such as Flexible Prosthesis and the implications it has for the patient. The loss of permanent dentition, whether partial or total, will bring with it problems of different kinds, ranging from the masticatory function to the aesthetic aspects; In addition, its evolution has repercussions in excessive resorption in the alveolar ridge, creating specific characteristics in the patient that disadvantage the stability and retention of the prostheses. The improvement of these devices has been one of the main challenges of dentistry over time; stipulating a classification that facilitates understanding its operation in order to generate a correct design, establish specific clinical considerations that allow greater certainty in the treatment plan to be followed, and choose in the best way the different components that make up the prosthesis, depending on the case that comes our way. In the beginning, conventional removable partial prostheses were limited to the rehabilitation of the masticatory function, leaving aside the aesthetics and comfort of the patient due to their components. For this reason, for modern restorative sciences, finding a material that meets the appropriate aesthetic and functional expectations is of primary importance, leading to the emergence of Nylon-based Metal-Free Prosthetics. Regarding this type of prosthesis, its composition, function, advantages and disadvantages are disclosed, as an alternative to conventional removable partial prostheses, as well as their differences, establishing a new perception and understanding of concepts in relation to the indication of the flexible prostheses.
