RESUMEN
O objetivo desta investigação é elucidar os aspectos centrais da vivência de empatia no pensamento de Edith Stein, compreendendo como estes aspectos são desenvolvidos em sua obra O problema da empatia (1917/1998). Parte-se da discussão acerca do tema na literatura científica recente, visando compreender os modos como a empatia é tratada, passando ao acesso da literatura especializada em fenomenologia, concepção norteadora da investigação, buscando os elementos envolvidos com o tema. A concepção da empatia como uma vivência, como reconhecimento do outro como outro eu, desdobra-se eticamente como um movimento de compreensão da experiência do outro, um testemunho sensível daquilo que ele vive.(AU)
The aim of this article is to elucidate the central aspects of the experience of empathy in the thought of Edith Stein, understanding how these aspects are developed in her work On the problem of empathy (1917/1998). The article starts with the discussion concerning the theme in recent scientific literature in order to understand the ways in which empathy is treated, passing to the access of specialized literature on phenomenology, guiding conception of this research, and seeking the elements involved with the issue. The conception of empathy as an experience, as a recognition of the other as another self, ethically unfolds as a movement for understanding the experience of the other, a sensitive testimony of which oneself lives.(AU)
