Eyelid problems and facial palsy

Facial nerve palsy cnn cause corneal exposure, paralytic ectropion and cosmetic problems. The comeal exposure and lagophlhatmos can lead to corneal scarring and loss of vision. Loss of the lacrimal pump, ectropion and lagophthalmos increase suffering by causing epiphora. The cosmetic defects of lid retraction, lagopthalmos and lower lid ectropion are aggravated by brow ptosis and sometimes by aberrant reinnervation.
