RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES@#To observe the effects on the glucose-lipid metabolism and the expression of zinc-α2-glycoprotein (ZAG) and glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) in the femoral quadriceps and adipose tissue after electroacupuncture (EA) at "Pishu" (BL 20), "Weiwanxiashu" (EX-B 3), "Zusanli" (ST 36) and "Sanyinjiao" (SP 6) in the rats with diabetes mellitus type 2 (T2DM), so as to explore the effect mechanism of EA in treatment of T2DM.@*METHODS@#Twelve ZDF male rats were fed with high-sugar and high-fat fodder, Purina #5008 for 4 weeks to induce T2DM model. After successfully modeled, the rats were randomly divided into a model group and an EA group, with 6 rats in each one. Additionally, 6 ZL male rats of the same months age were collected as the blank group. The rats in the EA group were treated with EA at bilateral "Pishu" (BL 20), "Weiwanxiashu" (EX-B 3), "Zusanli" (ST 36) and "Sanyinjiao" (SP 6), with continuous wave, 15 Hz in frequency, and 2 mA in intensity. The electric stimulation lasted 20 min each time. EA was delivered once daily, 6 times a week for 4 weeks. Separately, the levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG) was measured before modeling, before and after intervention, and the body mass of each rat was weighted before and after intervention. After intervention, the levels of the total cholesterol (TC), triacylglycerol (TG) and free fatty acid (FFA) in serum were detected using enzyme colorimetric method; and the levels of the serum insulin (INS) and ZAG were detected by ELISA. Besides, the insulin sensitivity index (HOMA-ISI) was calculated. With Western blot technique adopted, the protein expressions of ZAG and GLUT4 in the femoral quadriceps and adipose tissue were determined.@*RESULTS@#After intervention, compared with the blank group, the levels of FBG and body mass, and the levels of serum TC, TG, FFA and INS increased (P<0.01), while HOMA-ISI decreased (P<0.01); the level of ZAG in the serum and the protein expressions of ZAG and GLUT4 in the femoral quadriceps and adipose tissue dropped (P<0.01) in the model group. In the EA group, compared with the model group, the levels of FBG and body mass, and the levels of serum TC, TG, FFA and INS were reduced (P<0.01), and HOMA-ISI increased (P<0.01); the level of ZAG in the serum and the protein expressions of ZAG and GLUT4 in the femoral quadriceps and adipose tissue increased (P<0.01, P<0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Electroacupuncture can effectively regulate glucose-lipid metabolism, improve insulin resistance and sensitivity in the rats with T2DM, which is associated with the modulation of ZAG and GLUT4 expression in the skeletal muscle and adipose tissue.

RESUMEN

Quantity is the key factor to ensure the safety and effectiveness of medicines. It is very important to study and determine the traditional measuring units and their quantity values of Tibetan medicine. Based on the literature records of Tibetan medicine and combined with modern experimental verification and investigation research, this study determined the reference, name, and conversion rate of traditional measuring units of Tibetan medicine. Meanwhile, through large sample sampling and repeated quantification of refe-rence of basic units, its weight and volume were clarified. The modern SI volume and weight unit values corresponding to the traditional volume and weight units of Tibetan medicine were deduced, and the correctness, reliability, and practicability of these determination results were demonstrated. This study also put forward some specific suggestions and reference values for formulating the standards of measuring units of weight and volume of Tibetan medicine. It is of great significance in guiding the processing, production, and clinical treatment of Tibetan medicine, and promoting the standardization and standardized development of Tibetan medicine.

RESUMEN

In recent years, coronary microvascular disease (CMVD), a main type of ischemic heart disease with high incidence and low diagnosis rate, has become a new research hotspot and received much clinical attention. The etiology of CMVD is complex and the symptoms are various. Traditional Chinese and Western medicine have different opinions on its pathogenesis and treatment plan. Western medicine believes that CMVD is related to structural abnormalities (such as microvascular remodeling, vascular invasion, lumen obstruction, sparse vascular vessel and perivascular fibrosis) and functional abnormalities (such as endothelial dysfunction, smooth muscle cell dysfunction, microvascular constriction, microvascular spasm, inflammation and autonomic nervous dysfunction) of coronary microvascular vessels as well as the extravascular factors (such as heart rate and blood pressure). In clinics, conventional western medicines are usually used for empirical treatment, but with undesirable effects. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) believes that CMVD belongs to the category of "chest impediment", "heart pain" and "collateral disease", and the common syndromes include Qi deficiency and blood stasis, Qi stagnation and blood stasis, Qi and Yin deficiency, congealing cold in heart vessel, heart and spleen deficiency, blood stasis obstructing collaterals, combined phlegm and blood stasis, and liver and kidney deficiency, with a variety of treatment methods. Specifically, Chinese patent medicines, self-designed prescriptions, modified classical prescriptions and TCM characteristic therapies have achieved certain effects. This review discussed the risk factors, pathological mechanism, TCM etiology and pathogenesis and traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment of CMVD, to provide reference for the study and treatment of CMVD.

RESUMEN

This study aimed to explore the intervention effect of Chuanxiong-Chishao herb pair(CX-CS) on a myocardial infarction-atherosclerosis(MI-AS) mouse model and investigate its effect on the expression profile of circular RNAs(circRNAs)/long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs) in ischemic myocardium and aorta. Sixty male ApoE~(-/-) mice were randomly assigned to a model group, high-, medium-, and low-dose CX-CS groups(7.8, 3.9, and 1.95 g·kg~(-1)), and a positive drug group(metoprolol 26 mg·kg~(-1) and simvastatin 5.2 mg·kg~(-1)), with 12 mice in each group. Male C57BL/6J mice were assigned to the sham group. The mice in the model group and the groups with drug intervention were fed on a high-fat diet for 10 weeks, followed by anterior descending coronary artery ligation. After that, the mice were fed on a high-fat diet for another two weeks to induce the MI-AS model. The mice in the sham group received normal feed, followed by sham surgery without coronary artery ligation. Mice in the groups with drug intervention received CX-CS or positive drug by gavage for four weeks from the 9th week of high-fat feeding, and those in the model group and the sham group received an equal volume of normal saline. Whole transcriptome sequencing was performed on the heart and aorta tissues of the medium-dose CX-CS group, the model group, and the sham group after administration. The results showed that the medium-and high-dose CX-CS groups showed improved cardiac function and reduced myocardial fibrosis area, and the medium-dose CX-CS group showed significantly reduced plaque area. CX-CS treatment could reverse the expression of circRNA_07227 and circRNA_11464 in the aorta of AS model and circRNA expression(such as circRNA_11505) in the heart of the MI model. Differentially expressed circRNAs between the CX-CS-treated mice and the model mice were mainly enriched in lipid synthesis, lipid metabolism, lipid transport, inflammation, and angiogenesis in the aorta, and in angiogenesis, blood pressure regulation, and other processes in the heart. CX-CS treatment could reverse the expression of lncRNAs such as ENSMUST00000162209 in the aorta of the AS model and TCONS_00002123 in the heart of the MI model. Differentially expressed lncRNAs between the CX-CS-treated mice and model mice were mainly enriched in lipid metabolism, angiogenesis, autophagy, apoptosis, and iron death in the aorta, and in angiogenesis, autophagy, and iron death in the heart. In summary, CX-CS can regulate the expression of a variety of circRNAs and lncRNAs, and its intervention mechanism in coronary heart disease may be related to the regulation of angiogenesis and inflammation in ischemic myocardium, as well as lipid metabolism, lipid transport, inflammation, angiogenesis in AS aorta.

RESUMEN

With the acceleration of the aging process of the population in China, the utilization rate and transfer rate of ICU have significantly increased. More and more ICU survivors have post intensive care syndrome. If they cannot be intervened in time, the quality of life of patients will be seriously affected, and at the same time, the readmission rate will increase, impacting the scarce medical resources. Critical care recovery center have been established abroad for early identification and intervention of post intensive care syndrome. This paper intended to analyze the construction theory and operation mode of foreign critical care recovery center, summarize foreign experience, and put forward corresponding suggestions in combination with China′s national conditions, so as to provide reference for the construction of ritical care recovery center in China, with a view to providing long-term rehabilitation care services for patients with post intensive care syndrome in China.

RESUMEN

Shexiang Baoxin pills (SBP) are prescribed based on Suhexiang Pills derived from the Formulary of the Bureau of Taiping People's Welfare Pharmacy (《太平惠民和剂局方》) in the Song Dynasty. As the classic Chinese patent medicine in warming and dredging with aromatics, SBP have been widely used in clinical treatment for 30 years by virtue of their unique efficacy in coronary atherosclerotic heart disease (CHD). Angiogenesis is a biological process in which the body activates angiogenesis-related factors in the body to act on endothelial cells under local vascular injury, tumor growth, local inflammation, and other stimuli to promote the proliferation, migration, and infiltration of endothelial cells, and form new sprouting or non-sprouting blood vessels. As a new strategy for ischemic diseases such as CHD, therapeutic angiogenesis is of great significance in the prevention and treatment of CHD in promoting angiogenesis of ischemic myocardium and establishing effective collateral circulation. However, for the atherosclerotic plaque and tumor, angiogenesis promotion is a risk factor for accelerating the disease progression. Therefore, safe and effective regulation of ischemic myocardial angiogenesis has become the focus of the current prevention and treatment of CHD. Studies in recent years have shown that SBP can intervene in angiogenesis with multiple pathways and targets, which can exert therapeutic angiogenesis effect on CHD and also inhibit atherosclerotic plaque and tumor angiogenesis to varying degrees. This study reviewed the experimental and clinical trials on the regulatory effect of SBPs on angiogenesis in CHD to provide references for the research on Chinese medicine intervention in angiogenesis of CHD.

RESUMEN

This study aims to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of Shuxuetong Injection in the treatment of stroke in progressive. Randomized controlled trials of Shuxuetong Injection in the treatment of stroke in progressive were searched from CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, CMB, PubMed and EMbase. After strict literature screening, data extraction and quality evaluation, a total of 22 articles were included for analysis by RevMan 5.3. The Meta-analysis showed that Shuxuetong Injection combined with conventional treatment was superior to the conventional treatment alone in the major outcome indicators including effective rate(RR=1.27, 95%CI[1.20, 1.33], Z=9.18, P<0.000 01), deterioration rate(RR=0.38, 95%CI[0.22, 0.68], Z=3.31, P=0.000 9), NIHSS scores(MD=-3.89, 95%CI[-4.34,-3.43], Z=16.83, P<0.000 01), CSS scores(MD=-5.59, 95%CI[-6.42,-4.76], Z=13.20, P<0.000 01) and activity of daily living scores(MD=12.02, 95%CI[10.31, 13.72], Z=13.83, P<0.000 01), mortality during treatment was not increased(RR=0.40, 95%CI[0.13, 1.26], Z=1.56, P=0.12). Moreover, Shuxuetong Injection combined with conventional treatment further reduced the secondary outcome indicators including fibrinogen(MD=-0.35, 95%CI[-0.58,-0.13], Z=3.09, P=0.002), triglyceride(MD=-0.38, 95%CI[-0.67,-0.10], Z=2.65, P=0.008), low density lipoprotein cholesterol(MD=-0.72, 95%CI[-0.83,-0.61], Z=12.64, P<0.000 01), serum hypersensitive C-reactive protein(MD=-4.41, 95%CI[-6.96,-1.86], Z=3.38, P=0.000 7), and interleukin-6(MD=-5.43, 95%CI[-6.91,-3.96], Z=7.22, P<0.000 01). GRADE evaluation results showed that the major outcome indicators had low quality of evidence. Shuxuetong Injection in the treatment of stroke in progressive can improve the clinical effective rate, reduce the deterioration rate, improve the neurological function and activity of daily living, down-regulate the levels of fibrinogen, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and alleviate the inflammatory response. Although most studies have reported no adverse reactions, there are selective reports. The safety of Shuxuetong Injection needs to be further verified by more high-quality randomized controlled trial.

RESUMEN

The present study investigated the mechanism of components in stasis-resolving and collateral-dredging Chinese herbal medicines, including scutellarin(Scu), paeonol(Pae), and hydroxy safflower yellow A(HSYA), in the treatment of psoriasis by regulating angiogenesis and inflammation. The human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs) cultured in vitro were divided into a normal group, a model group, a VEGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor Ⅱ(VRI) group, and Scu, Pae, and HSYA groups with low, me-dium, and high doses. Cell viability was detected by the CCK-8 assay. Cell migration was detected by wound healing assay. Tube formation assay was used to measure the tube formation ability. Western blot was used to detect the protein expression of the VEGFR2/Akt/ERK1/2 signaling pathway. The secretion levels of inflammatory cytokines IFN-γ, IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α were detected by ELISA. The results showed that compared with the model group, all the Scu, Pae, and HSYA groups could reduce cell viability, inhibit cell migration and tube formation(P<0.05, P<0.01), and down-regulated the protein expression of VEGFR2, p-VEGFR2, Akt, p-Akt, ERK1/2, and p-ERK1/2. Scu and Pae could down-regulate VEGFR2 expression(P<0.05, P<0.01), while other groups only showed a downward trend. Scu and Pae significantly reduced IFN-γ and IL-6 levels(P<0.01), and HSYA significantly reduced the levels of IFN-γ, IL-1β, and IL-6(P<0.01). Scu, Pae, and HSYA had no significant effect on TNF-α. The results suggested that Scu, Pae, and HSYA may exert a therapeutic role in psoriasis-related angiogenesis and inflammation by inhibiting VEGFR2/Akt/ERK1/2 signaling pathway and inhibiting the secretion of IFN-γ, IL-1β, and IL-6.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the correlation of platelet and coagulation function with blood stasis syndrome (BSS) in coronary heart disease (CHD).@*METHODS@#The protocol for this meta-analysis was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42019129452). PubMed, Excerpta Medica Database (Embase), the Cochrane Library, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were searched from inception to 1st June, 2020. Trials were considered eligible if they enrolled BSS and non-BSS (NBSS) patients with CHD and provided information on platelet and coagulation function. The platelet function, coagulation function, and fibrinolytic activity were compared between the BSS and NBSS groups. Forest plots were generated to show the SMDs or ESs with corresponding 95% CIs for each study. Subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis were performed to explore potential sources of heterogeneity.@*RESULTS@#The systematic search identified 1,583 articles. Thirty trials involving 10,323 patients were included in the meta-analysis. The results showed that mean platelet volume, platelet distribution width, platelet aggregation rate, platelet P selectin, fibrinogen, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), thromboxane B2 (TXB2), 6-keto-prostaglandin F1alpha (6-keto-PGF1 α), and TXB2/6-keto-PGF1 α were higher in the BSS group than in the NBSS group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Activated partial thromboplastin time was lower in the BSS group than in the NBSS group in the acute phase of CHD (P<0.01). The R and K values in thromboelastography and tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) and t-PA/PAI-1 were lower in the BSS group than in the NBSS group (all P<0.01). No difference was found in the results of platelet count, plateletcrit, maximum amplitude, von Willebrand factor, prothrombin time, thrombin time, international normalized ratio, etc. between groups.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Increased platelet function, hypercoagulability, and decreased fibrinolytic activity were found among CHD patients with BSS.

RESUMEN

Ischemic cerebrovascular disease and cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury threaten the health of human being. We studied the protective effect of Ginkgo biloba extract 50 (EGb50) on the mitochondrial function in SH-SY5Y cells after hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) injury and explored its mechanisms, so as to provide new ideas for studies on the treatment for ischemic cerebrovascular disease. We established the H/R injury model in SH-SY5Y cells after administrating EGb50. Subsequently, the mitochondrial membrane potential and the concentration of intracellular Ca²⁺ were measured by flow cytometer. The levels of optic atrophy1 (Opa1) and dynamin-like protein 1 (Drp1) were evaluated by immunofluorescence and western blot. The results showed that the mitochondrial membrane potential was decreased and the level of intracellular Ca²⁺ was increased after H/R injury. Moreover, the expression of mitochondrial fusion protein Opa1 was decreased, while the expression of mitochondrial fission protein Drp1 was increased. However, EGb50 significantly increased the mitochondrial membrane potential and suppressed the level of intracellular Ca²⁺. In addition, EGb50 increased the expression of Opa1 and decreased the expression of Drp1. The results demonstrated that EGb50 has a neuroprotective effect on SH-SY5Y cells after H/R injury, and could improve the energy metabolism and mitochondrial function. The underlying mechanisms may be associated with the regulation of mitochondrial fusion and fission, which provided data support for the treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular disease with EGb50.

Methods Based on the influenza vaccination information obtained from the vaccination case registrations of the adult vaccination clinic in all the street community health service centers in Jiangdong District and the information of patients with type 2 diabetes derived from the chronic disease monitoring management information system of Zhejiang Province. A total of 269 urban household registration patients suffered from diabetes mellitus before August 2013 and had the influenza vaccination in 2013/2014, 2014/2015, 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 were ensured and analyzed by the ordinal regression analysis to explore the influencing factors of the consecutive influenza vaccination among the patients with type 2 diabetes. Results The influenza vaccination rates among the patients with type 2 diabetes in 2013/2014 (0.74%), 2014/2015 (0.82%), 2015/2016 (1.04%) and 2016/2017 (1.13%) were increasing year by year (χ2trend=11.663, P=0.001) with the annual rate of 0.95%. The once, twice, three and four times of the influenza vaccination accounted for 60.60% (163 patients), 19.33% (52 patients), 13.01% (35 patients) and 7.06% (19 patients), respectively. The ordinal regression analysis showed that patients below the age of 66 (OR=0.542, 95%CI: 0.310-0.948) and patients with a primary and middle school degree (ORprimary=0.436, 95%CI: 0.253-0.752; ORmiddle=0.438, 95%CI: 0.265-0.724) were all more likely to cease the vaccination. Patients who get the first time vaccination after be diagnosed in three years (OR=2.509, 95%CI: 1.412-4.459) were more likely to get immunized continuously. Conclusion The influenza vaccination rates among patients with type 2 diabetes were low. The patients aged 76 years old and above, with a higher degree and newly diagnosed were more likely to accept the consecutive influenza vaccination.

RESUMEN

AIM To establish the quality standard for Compound Tougucao Solution [Impatiens balsamina L.Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim.,Gleditsia sinensis Lam and Momordica cochinchinensis (Lour.) Spreng.].METHODS The fingerprints of ten batches of samples were established, after which TLC was used for the qualitative identification of I.balsamina and Z.bungeanum,HPLC was adopted in the content determination of quercetin.RESULTS There were twenty-seven common peaks in the fingerprints with the similarities of 0.978-0.986,four of which were sodium benzoate, rutin, hyperoside and quercetin, respectively. The clear TLC spots were free from negative interference.Quercetin showed a good linear relationship within the range of 1.68-107.6 μg/mL (R2 =0.999 9),whose average recovery was 104.3% with the RSD of 2.2%.CONCLUSION This stable and reproducible method can be used for the quality control of Compound Tougucao Solution.
