These patients were selected by proportional allocation sampling. Data was collected via Caring Behaviors Inventory [CBI]. All of the samples completed the inventory. Reliability and validity were assessed in 2007 by Rafii et all. Cronbach's alpha was %92. Data analysis was done by SPSS v.16

Results: According to the findings order of scoring subscale was: Professional knowledge and skill [5.5], Attentiveness to other's experience [5.13], Assurance of human presence [5.11] Respectful to the others [4.94], Positive connectedness [4.93]

Conclusion: Since from the patients point of view the nurses' Professional knowledge and skill is seen more and Positive connectedness is seen less, it seems that nurses as well as maintaining their knowledge and skill should attempt to consider emotional and relational aspect of their caring behaviors for patients. This important aspect of caring, should be mentioned by nursing managers in during educational planning and nurses evaluation as well as staff distribution, Particularly in oncology wards. The lack of adequate personnel may not only cause unwanted neglect of the emotional aspect of nursing care, but also decreasing the quality of nursing care in all aspects

RESUMEN

The concept of pharmaceutical care has been used and discussed with multiple definitions in the literature related to health care sciences and especially in pharmacology and pharmacotherapy. However, the use of this concept is not common in the nursing literature and it has not currently been used. This study has been done to analysis the concept of pharmaceutical care in order to clarify areas of agreement of this concept in nursing and pharmacology disciplines and identifying its attributes, antecedents and consequences. Rodgers' evolutionary method of concept analysis was used to clarify the meaning of Pharmaceutical care. Data bases of Sciencedirect, Springer and google scholar were searched to retrieve the related literature. The main criteria for entry were, the literature published in English language in the disciplines of nursing and health care sciences. Literature search was limited to 1990-2011 with the keywords of "Pharmaceutical care" and "Pharmaceutical service" in the title of texts. The initial search resulted in 932 texts, 197 of them deemed relevant to our analysis. Then 40 texts [20 percent of those] were selected and reviewed. In this study, the attributes of pharmaceutical care were identified in two categories of specialized skills and communication skills. Specialized skills included five attributes including the identification of drug problems, resolving the drug problems, treatment and palliative care, monitoring short-term results of treatment and reviewing proportionality of prescription for each patient. The communication skills included four attributes of consultation with the patient, emotional commitment to the welfare of patients, collaboration with the health care team and attention to the patient's medical condition. The antecedents included professional and organizational factors, and the consequences were health care, economic, informational and qualitative outcomes. The findings show that in spite of failure to use the concept of pharmaceutical care in nursing literature independently, it is a significant aspect of clinical practice and overall patient care

RESUMEN

Patient satisfaction has been recognized as a key indicator of health care quality which is used by accreditation agencies to monitor quality of care in hospitals. A high proportion of health caregivers are nurses. The services provided by nurses are significantly influential in satisfaction of patients. The aim of this study was to assess patients' satisfaction from nursing care in hospitals of Iran University of Medical Sciences in 2010. In this cross-sectional study, we recruited 200 patients from different wards [except for special wards, Emergency department, Pediatric and Psychiatric wards] at the time of discharge from hospital through multistage sampling method. Data were collected using Patient Satisfaction Instrument [PSI]. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, chi-square and regression analysis. Majority of patients [72%] were moderately satisfied. Patient satisfaction had a significant relationship with the type of ward [PG0.001], and type of hospital [PG0.001]. Of demographic variables, only patients' level of education was significantly associated with patient satisfaction [PG0.019]. In this study, patients were moderately satisfied from nursing care services. Educating hospital staff, especially nurses; and encouraging them to actively participate in activities to promote patient satisfaction should be a priority for hospital management. We should also consider that in a competitive market of health and treatment care giving, institutions that put patient satisfaction as their main goal are more successful

RESUMEN

Medical Errors [Iatrogenesis] constitute one of the major challenges for health systems in every country. The most common kinds of these errors are the medication errors of nurses which have negative impacts on patients, nurses as well as organizations and result in poor quality of healthcare. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship of nurses' medication errors with some organizational and demographic characteristics. This is a descriptive-analytic study conducted on 286 nurses working in internal, surgery, orthopedics, and gynecology and obstetrics wards of selected hospitals of Iran University of Medical Sciences using the stratified multistage sampling method in 2009. The data were collected using questionnaire designed by the researcher and was analyzed using descriptive statistics and Kruskal-Wallis and independent T test. The software program was SPSS14. The average number of medication errors as in three months per nurse was 19.5 cases. Among personal and organizational characteristics, gender [P<0.000] and attending classes instructing medication administration [P<0.03] were significantly related to medication error. [Administering multiple oral drugs simultaneously] was the most frequent medication error in this study. The fact that the frequency of medication error in this study was altogether higher than studies conducted in other countries highlights the necessity for further attention on the part of nursing managers and authorities. Healthcare providers must identify the causative factors and apply strategies to reduce these errors

RESUMEN

Nurses can support the patients' rights advocacy, if they are informed of these rights. Furthermore in order to exercise and protect of these rights, the working environment should be appropriate. The aim of this descriptive analytical study was to explore the nurses' awareness of patients' rights in Tehran teaching hospitals and the facilitators of observing theses rights from their perspective. To achieve this, 517 nurses were selected using multi stage stratified sampling method. Data were gathered utilizing a researcher made questionnaire with 3o statements regarding patients' bill of rights, and an open question about patients' rights facilitators at the end. The findings indicated that overall nurses had a high level of awareness regard patients' rights. In addition nurses mentioned 17 factors as facilitators of patients' rights practice. These were classified to three groups: organization related, personnel related and client/ patient related factors. The most frequent items were in the group of organization related factors. Despite of nurses' high awareness of patients' rights, observing these rights in practice needs many other requirements. These requirements should be recognized and identified. This can be the first step for finding proper solutions by all health care providers and policy makers as well
