RESUMEN
To study the different neurological findings in craniofacial anomalies and their association with eye abnormalities. 46 patients with craniofacial anomalies were examined and their neurological findings and eye findings were recorded and correlated. The incidence of neurological abnormalities was 20% with lid and /or lacrimal anomalies while it was over 50% when strabismus was present. Neurological abnormalities are more common in craniofacial anomalies in which strabismus is a feature

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of echo-cardiography in the detection of valvular cardiac affection in rheumatic patients without clinically evident carditis. Thirty rheumatic patients without evidence of carditis or murmur were examined clinically and were further assessed by laboratory investigations and with echocardiography with the Toshiba 270 ultrasound phase array scanner. The results proved that rheumatic valvulitis was detected in 33% of patients by echocardiography in spite of absense of clinical signs. Echocardiography is a valuable and sensitive diagnostic tool for sub-clinical cardiac affection in acute rheumatic fever, that is not detected by clinical and auscultatory findings

Nineteen consecutive cases of retinal detachment due to macular holes were treated by the modern technique of vitrectomy and air tamponade between Jan.1984. Feb. 1985. In 15 cases the retina remained attached during follow up periods ranging from one to 13 months. This simple technique emphasized the rote of vitreomacular adhesions in the pathogenesis of retinal detachment due to macular holes, It has the advantage of preserving the macula rather than destroying it by previous surgical procedurs

In a study of 152 insulin dependent diabetic patients in whom the degree of metabolic control was judged by the level of glycosylated hemoglobin [HbAIc], we found ocular complications in 28 cases [18%]. These ocular complications were: diabetic retinopathy [17.1%], glaucoma [3.3%], rubeosis irides [2%], cataract [1.3%], and ocular palsy [0.6%]. We found that cases who were more liable to develop ocular complications were male patients, those with a positive family history, long postpubertal duration, retarded growth, hyperlipemia, nephropathy, and poor metabolic control as monitored by the level of HbAlc
