RESUMEN
Callus tissues of Solanum jasminoides grown in RT medium were treated with 1, 3 and 5 ppm of aqueous IAA, NAA, 2, 4-D and Kinetin. The cultures were harvested at the end of 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th week of the growth period, dried, weighed and their growth indices calculated. Tissues were also analyzed for their diosgenin, beta-sitosterol and solasodine contents. A linear increase in the growth index was recorded up to 3 ppm of all the growth regulators except NAA. Enhancement in diosgenin, beta-sitosterol and solasodine levels was found in tissues grown in different growth regulators, however, beta-sitosterol content was significantly higher in Kn supplementation
