Comparative macro-and micro-morphological study and phytochemical screening of the roots, stems and leaves of acalypha willisiana and Amarginata grown in Egypt

Preliminary phytochemical screening of the roots, stems and leaves of Acalypha wilkesiana Mull. Arg. and Acalypha marginata Mort., not [poir] K. spreng., Family Euphorbiaceae revealed that the two species are similar in their constituents. Sterols and /or triterpenes, alkaloids and /or nitrogenous bases, carbohydrates and /or glycosides, pyrogallol tannins, flavonoids and saponins were detected in all organs of the two species under investigation. The macro- and micromorphological characters of the roots, stem and leaves of both species are performed in order to establish the diagnostic characters with the aim to facilitate their identification and differentiation when present in the entire and powdered forms
